Chapter 4: Treehouse

ALEXANDER

   She’s fixing the bed while I’m preparing myself, I mean putting on my boots.

“Hey”, I said in a moderated tone, taking a cape, and holding it on my left hand.

“Hm?”, she asked smiling at me while folding the blanket.

“Um. I forgot to tell you, the name’s..ehem ehem”, I cleared my throat. “Alexander”, I gave her one of the best smiles I could show. She stared at me, was she mesmerized by my… smile? Ha! ha! Who am I joking, a girl? Having a crush on me? Nah!

XYRENE

     He put on a smile that took me along so much, I couldn’t help but stare at him. Wait, what? “Ehem” I cleared my throat and put myself back to my senses “Well, ehem-ehem, I mean Alexander, hihi, kidding”, I stopped myself from laughing and settled the blanket I was folding down and extended my hand in front of him for a handshake. “My name’s Xyrene” I sweetly smiled at him.

Ugh, I do really think I’ve got a crush on this guy…. But I’m still not totally sure about it. He shaked my hand gently which sent tingles to my spine and the time seemed to froze again. There’s just the two of us in this place and we’re staring into each other’s eyes, memorizing each inch of it and sinking into this magical moment until..

“Waaatchuu!” I. SNEEZED. ON. ANOTHER. MAGICAL. MOMENT. WHY NOW?!? “Choo!” I sneezed again. “Watchuuu!!!”, I sneezed again, louder and…. Alexander held me on my shoulders. “Whoa, are you okay now, princess?”, he asked with a small smirk on his face, which I find adorable.

“Uh? Oh, yeah, I’m okay, wait, did you just call me, princess?”, I said giving him a confused look, smirking a bit too. “Yeah, I thought I was your knight in shining armor? Had a change of mind?”, he winked at me. It sent a shock to my body, we both smiled at each other.

“Atchu!”, I sneezed again. We stared at each other for a moment and both of us started laughing. “Hahaha! Woah! Well, as your, knight in shining armor,” he bowed to me, like I’m a real princess. “Please wear this cape, for you to prevent getting a cold, my lady.”, I took the cape and wore it.

“Aww, thanks, can we go now? Please”, I asked, childishly.

“Just one more thing”, he went near the window and signaled me to come near him.

“Okay”, I rolled my eyes but happily faced him near the windowsill, “What’s up?”

“We are” He opened the windows and I felt the cool winter breeze spread to my face “on top”

My eyes widened, we are really far from the ground, “Wooooaaaahhhh” It kind of sent chills to my body that we are up on ummm a tree maybe? The house? Is on a tree? Wait a minute! “Yieeeee!!!! Oh my gosh!!!! Are we really on a tree house? All this time? Why have you kept the truth from me? Oh my!!!! We’re on a tree house!!!!!” I was jumping up and down like a child.

“Oh, you really didn’t know, well yeah we’re on my tree house”, he brushed his hair with his fingers and smirked at me, who is currently busy admiring the place. ”I love it!!!! This was my dream since I was a child, I’ve never been in one before, and now, kyaaaa!!!!!!!!”

“Woah, thanks. And, um you still wanna come with me and get some food?”, he asked

“Food, oh yeah, wait, oooohhhh, are we really going down a tree house?”, there’s a huge smile on my face.

“Yep and umm, ladies first?” He winked and opened the door for me. The breeze greeted my face as he opened the door.

“Umm, sudden change of mind, you first please, my knight in shining armor.”  And this time, I was the one who winked at him and giggled a little.

He smiled then climbed down carefully while I followed. Alexander already reached the ground.  I was so distracted by the cool breeze and I accidentally skipped on the last rung and as I thought of falling to the ground…

his arms caught me which sent a warmth feeling to me. We stared at each other.. again... weird... ugh.... and I was looking directly on his mesmerizing blue eyes. He was smiling at me and I’m sure I’m smiling at him too. The small snowflakes fell near us.

A very small flake fell on my nose and then, “Atchu”, a small sneeze came out. “Well, you are a sneezy princess”, he poked my nose with a finger. “Good thing you have a knight in shining armor like me”, he winked at me again.

“Yeah, thank you”, and I smiled sweetly at him as the small snowflakes fell around us.
