"Do you know her fiance?" Darren asks.
Darren and I were now inside the train, heading towards Dorsenburg to attend Rose's wedding.
Usually, the royals will be in attendance for another royal wedding. Unfortunately, the current situation in our kingdom forbids it. The King is already old and recently often got sick. Floyd, the crown prince, is now always beside Evelyn, the crown princess, who's in her late pregnancy. I don't know why they don't send Ethan, the second prince, but I try not to poke the issue about the internal court. The less I know, the better. The international minister offered his attendance but, unsurprisingly, Dorsenburg rejected. Instead, they sent an invitation to me and Darren. With me working as their research fellow and Darren, a Duke family, who established our country's relationship in the first place, everyone accepts the proposal.
Even if Dorseburg slowly started opening its doors, only selected foreigners were invited to this event...
"Not personally but I've met him a couple of times," I said, remembering the man Rose will wed to. "Why do you think she would marry a Viscount?" Darren asked. His confusion is understandable. Rose is the only princess, the youngest, and the king's favorite child. Even Though her partner is noble, their rank is too far.
I chuckled a bit remembering Rose's answer when I asked her the same question. Darren looked at me with a raised eyebrow, waiting for the answer. I gesture my hand in front of my face. "She likes a handsome man. You'll understand when you met him," I said.
Yeah. The looks of her soon-to-be husband also surprised me. A beautiful face that can be mistaken for a woman, yet it doesn't strip his masculinity and handsomeness. Besides, he's a prominent Alpha that is smart and competent, one of the brightest person I knew there. Even if he's a commoner, I bet Erica would still choose him.
As per the king's request, they agreed that he would marry into the family. This means that the Viscount would come into the palace instead of Rose leaving. Well, it can only happen because of Rose's circumstances.
"Is he that handsome?" Darren's question distract my mind.
"Personally, I would describe him as beautiful rather than handsome," I said smiling, again remembering his face. "Besides, he comes from the family that has been established long before the Dorseburg even founded. A very respectable one."
"Hmm, interesting..." Darren mumbled.
"Let's bet!" I lean forward, an idea occurred. "I bet that you'll fall for his look and when you do, you have to be honest and confess. You have to grant me a wish after that."
"Why does it sound like you want me to fall for him?"
I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "He really is very handsome. You have to admit good-looking people, it's a fact," I said.
Darren chuckled. "What do you want?"
"I'll tell you when I won," I said confidently.
"And what's in it for me?" he asked.
"I'll grant a wish of yours if I lose," I answered. Well, I always comply with his demands. It's nothing new.
.
'You're finally here!' Rose ran towards me. Her hair was tied in a ponytail and she wore casual clothes. With her simple look, people would think that she's just an ordinary noble, if not for her platinum blond hair that marks her royal bloodline.
