"I just want to play with you," a small black-haired boy whined, restlessly holding his shirt.

"We can't! Mother will be angry if she sees me play with you," a taller brown-haired boy said as he stopped the black-haired boy from approaching.

"Why? Is it because of my eyes?" The boy asked. He has an uncommon eye color, green on one side and yellowish gold on the other.

The boy shook his head. "No, it's not because of that," he said. He found it weird the first time he saw those eyes, but the little boy is kind and cute. The taller never got bothered by it.

"So?" The small boy asked.

The taller boy looked nervous. He looked at his friends beside him. "It's your mom. Mother said she is bad, so we can not play with you?" The other boy said. He also has a common brown hair color.

"What do you mean?"

"Mother said your mom is not a good woman. She has you without getting married, that's why you don't have a father," the first boy said.

"No! Mom said dad is working far away. He's a knight!" The black hair boy argues.

"Mother said your mom is a liar," the other boy said.

The black-haired boy becomes teary. "N- no! My mom.. mom is..."

"Jacob! Liam!" the sound of an old woman disrupts the three boys. They look at a woman who's calling for them from a distance.

"We should get back, Jacob," Liam said to the taller boy.

Jacob looked at his little friend, then he crouched down to match with the small boy's eye level. "Here, have these cookies," he picked a cookie from his small pouch and gave it to the black-haired boy. "Don't cry, Jules. I'll find a way to meet you next time."

Jacob ruffled the boy's hair and gave him a smile before joining Liam to go down the hill. The black hair boy was left alone, seeing the figures of his friends growing smaller to the distance.

"Jules," a woman shook a young boy who was sleeping on the bed.

The boy slowly opened his eyes, blinking several times to gather his consciousness. He looked at the woman's face and started smiling. "Good morning, mom," the boy said as she hugged his mom.

"Good morning, Julian," the woman hugged her son back.

Julian snuggled inside her mom's embrace for a moment before he finally let her go. He looked at her mom who seems to grow tired every day. "Mom, when will we go home?" Julian asked.

The woman looked at her son with a weary smile. "Soon, you'll live in a new house, Jules," the woman answered.

"New house?"

"You remember the large house we visited yesterday right?"

Julian nodded. He remembered a large house they visited yesterday. It was bigger than any of the houses he had seen back in his hometown.

"Soon, you will live there," the woman said.

Julian tilted his head, confused. "Why?"

The woman didn't immediately answer. She looked at her son with a complicated feeling. "Julian, do you want to meet your father?" the woman asked him.

Mom always said that his father is a knight. He's a very busy person and that's why Julian never met him before. "I... I don't know," Julian answered hesitantly. He wanted to meet his father, but at the same time, he was too afraid to meet him.
