The Shadow Monster

October 31st 1984 

I woke up the next morning to 20 missed calls from steve and 5 texts from nancy i checked the time and it was 9 AM and school started 30 minutes ago

"shit,shit,shit"

i ended up tripping over a pile of books and i fell on my face hard. once i got up i put my hand on my face and i could fell blood

"fuck,fuck,shit"

"Alex?"

"i'm sorry did i wake you up El"

"no"

"um i have to go to school but if you don't want me to i can stay"

"no go"

"you sure you'll be okay here"

"yeah go"

"i love you i'll come see you after school at 4:15"

"4-1-5"

"yea 4-1-5"

i sprint out the door and call steve

"where the hell are you"

"yea i know i slept in i'm on my way right now"

"hurry up because miss click is late and you could get her before she does"

"shit thanks"

i end the call and step on the gas probably going over a 100 but i need to get there before click because she give detentions for anything. As i'm driving it's like the world suddenly changed and i'm in the upside down but theres a monster like shadow in the sky and then i'm snapped back into reality. I brush it off and I make it to school in 20 minutes and i quickly park and run into the building and i get into class and take my usual seat and 5 minutes later miss click comes in.

[robin]you got really lucky today

"tell me about it"

[robin]By the way what happened to your face

"oh i tripped over a pile of books and scraped my cheek on a table it's nothing"

[robin]"you sure"

"yea"

[miss click] Alex

"yea"

[miss click]what was i just talking about

"well you were talking about how the egyptians built the pyramids and how the nile was their main source of water"

[miss click]i- well next time less talking

"got it"

once the school day ended Nancy and steve came up to me in the parking lot

[steve]so are you going to tina's party tonight

"i dont know i have something to do if i have time i'll go"

[steve]alright but you better dress up if you're going

"alright but i gotta go now"

we part ways and i make my way over to my car and then out of the corner of my eye it's like i could see the monster again and it was coming closer and then the roar of someone's car engine snapped me out of it
