Louis listened intently as the soft sound of drums and a guitar filled the silence of the room once more. He had obviously expected for the music to be beautiful because, well, it's Harry. But Louis still couldn't help but be surprised by how angelic it all sounded.
'tell me something, tell me something
you don't know nothing
just pretend you do
i need something
tell me something new
choose your words cause there's no antidote
for this curse oh
what's it waiting for
must this hurt you just before you go'He couldn't tell what it was about it, but Louis thought this might be his favorite one so far. It was beautiful. And so full of raw and genuine emotion. Exactly what all artists strive for when they write, and here he was, lucky enough to be able to share his own emotions with the writer.
'oh, tell me something i don't already know
oh, tell me something i don't already know
brooklyn saw me empty at the news
there's no water inside this swimming pool
almost over, had enough from you
and i've been praying
i never did before
understand i'm talking to the walls
i've been praying ever since new york'It hadn't occurred to Louis before now that Harry's life had probably changed quite a lot after they separated, after all, his had changed dramatically. He didn't know that Harry would ever turn to religion, and he didn't really even know if Harry took it seriously or if he was just looking for an escape. Either way, he has Louis' support. Louis thought it was funny how he had also referenced the events in New York, and now here they were, listening to Harry's interpretation of those same events. It never failed to surprise Louis when they would write a song almost identical to each other's, no matter how many times it happened.
'oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know
tell me something, tell me something
you don't know nothing
just pretend you do
tell me something just before you go'Louis knew that feeling. He knew it all too well. The feeling of just wanting one last moment of comfort before you face the end. One last moment together before you leave. He had written 'Love You Goodbye' which featured this same feeling, but it had been screened over in order to 'fit the band' which meant that it wasn't entirely what Louis had intended for the song in the first place. It was however, conveying the same emotion as Harry had just a moment ago.
'oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know
oh, tell me something I don't already know.'"That was beautiful love." Louis sad gently while turning over and draping his arm across Harry's torso and beginning to trace over the bird closest to his hand. "I think it might be my favorite so far."
"Thank you darling." Harry replied softly. "I thought you might like that one."
They stayed in that position for a couple of minutes, just taking each other in. Then Louis said something about it being his turn and reached for his phone. However he did not begin a song. Instead, he opened his camera and gave his phone to Harry, who then shot a smile at Louis and proceeded to take a picture of their hands which were now clasped together on Harry's lap:
