The soft strum of a guitar met Louis' ears once Harry had pressed play. It sounded so peaceful and comforting to Louis. In that sense, it almost reminded him of how he felt when he was with Harry: He felt calm and at peace.
'sweet creature
had another talk about where it's going wrong
but we're still young
we don't know where we're going
but we know where we belong
and oh we started two hearts in one home
its hard when we argue
we're both stubborn
i know'Louis let out a quiet chuckle at this last lyric about them both being stubborn. They used to tell each other this all the time when they were in an argument, and it eventually resulted in them both just laughing and brushing it off. Which looking back probably wasn't good because everything eventually bottled up and came back to bite them...but they are here together now, that's all that matters to Louis.
'but oh
sweet creature, sweet creature
wherever I go you bring me home
sweet creature, sweet creature
when I run out of road
you bring me home'Louis instantly remembered all of the times that they would tell each other that they were their home. Home wasn't a place for them. It never could be. They were always on the run to a new city or a new country.
Home was a person.
They were each other's home. They grounded each other and brought each other back down to Earth, even if they were the one that sent the other up higher in the first place. It was sweet really, Louis couldn't help but stare down at Harry with fond eyes where he lays curled into Louis' side on the bed. This was the happiest song Harry had shown him so far.
'sweet creature
we're running through the garden
oh
where nothing bothered us
but we're still young
i always think about you
and how we don't speak enough'So this had to be a more recent lyric, Louis thought to himself. It can't be a reference to when they were together. They couldn't get enough of talking to each other when they were together, but after they broke up, there was nothing that they wanted more than to speak to the other person. It occurred to Louis that they were both wanting to speak to each other, but thought that the other didn't care, when in reality they were both in the same position without knowing it. Louis turned his attention back to the song as it continued:
'and oh we started
two hearts in one home
i know it's hard when we argue
we're both stubborn
i know
but oh
sweet creature, sweet creature
wherever I go
you bring me home
sweet creature, sweet creature
when I run out of road
you bring me home'Louis was close to tears again, but this time they weren't sad: they were tears of love and joy. He loved this man that was laying next him in his arms. And Harry loved him back. How could he have gotten so lucky?
'i know when we started
just two hearts in one home
it gets harder when we argue
we're both stubborn
i know
but oh
sweet creature, sweet creature
wherever I go
you bring me home
sweet creature, sweet creature
when I run out of road
you bring me home
you'll bring me home.'Harry's beautiful, angelic voice echoed the last note of the song through the phone and Louis took his right arm away from Harry for a moment to display his forearm, pointing at the compass tattoo with his other hand.
"See love?" Louis asked gently. "You bring me home as well."
Harry lightly touched the place on the compass where the location of West should be, but instead there was the word 'home' in its place.
