Grief comes in waves. Sometimes, it can creep up on you and trickle over like a water fountain but other times, the waves are so strong it sweeps you off your feet and drowns you in the middle of the ocean.
Raven felt stranded in an endless ocean of endless torment. The mother that she had just fought so hard for, the mother she has daydreamed of, all her life, the mother that she had just ate dinner with, and hugged so tightly...lay lifeless at the end of her bed.
Her wails of distress seemed to shake the furniture, which made Klaus glad they had trained so hard to untie her magic from her emotions, otherwise this event, would've caused catastrophic devastation.
Klaus crouched down on the floor beside Raven and pulled her into his arms. He was distraught and felt every inch of Raven's pain.
"I can't do it" she sobbed "Klaus, I can't live with this...this pain...she's destroyed me" she clung onto his arm.
Raven sobbed against his chest for what felt like an eternity but in reality, it had taken only a few minutes for Raven's crying to cease.
Klaus looked down at her face, her eyes glossy and her cheeks painted in a ruddy tone.
He was a little stunned when he saw that her wailing had become a soft snivel but he clung to her anyway, caressing the back of her neck.
Raven shut her eyes tightly and practiced her breathing, just like Anita had taught her.
'Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Open your eyes' she recited in her mind.
"The pain's gone" Raven whispered, slowly peeling herself away from Klaus' chest.
Klaus grabbed the side of her cheek in concern and stared deeply into her soul "What have you done?"
"I'm not sure" Raven replied bluntly, staring at her mother's lifeless corpse, without shedding another tear.

"Elijah, she's turned off her humanity without even realising what she was doing. She didn't want to feel the pain so she shut it off without realising the consequences" Klaus explained over the phone, pacing back and forth in the kitchen.
"I've left her upstairs, for now, staring at her mother's decaying body but when she comes down she will kill Rebekah" he warned.
"I know Niklaus" Elijah replied solemnly "She wanted to kill her before and the only thing that stopped her was knowing it would break our hearts to see our sister ripped from us. However, now without her humanity, she does not care what we want. All she'll feel is rage"
"I know" Klaus grunted in frustration, glancing at Rebekah's body lay in the hall.
"You must ensure Rebekah stays safe. I care for Raven but I will not let her hurt our sister" Elijah demanded.
Klaus knew what he had to do.
"Klaus?" Raven yelled down the stairs after a while, but no answer came.
She swiftly vamped down and stood in a splatter of Rebekah's blood, where her body once lay.
"That bastard" Raven snarled under her breath, realising Klaus had taken her.
She didn't know her way around Nevada at all but she could compel the townsfolk to give her directions and be her eyes and ears.
Klaus seemed to have fled, leaving Raven utterly alone, in a strange new town, full of unsuspecting victims. Unfortunately for them, Raven was just in the mood for some violence.
