So the hunt began. Peter began frantically looking for one person, me. He called me the kid in the hoodie.
Soon all the teachers started to search.
Then Liz.
Then the principal.
Soon everyone was aware, it was amazing for Peter.
Not so amazing for my identity.
I did it without thinking, telling him. I shouldn't have.
I didn't feel like being Cinderella. Yet here I was standing in the middle of a busy hallway where everyone is looking for the same tattoo on the lucky person's wrist. I guess people collectively decided to wear short sleeves to find the mystery soulmate, me. I of course wore a hoodie, I wasn't the only one of course but I certainly had many looks and attempts to look at my wrist. Lucky for me one hand was completely free of any tattoo. Well real ones. No one ever said that I couldn't draw a simple flower. I wasn't a good drawing by any means but everyone seemed to buy my bullshit.
Just what I needed.
Taken off the suspects list.
No one would know unless they looked at my left arm.
Michelle now was my only obstacle. I had to make sure she didn't give any hints and send people on scavenger hunts for her own amusement. Her laugh will be the death of me. I have to get some leverage on her.
Something that she couldn't deny.
Something she would be embarrassed by.
Or something she cared about.
But she didn't care about anything.
Except maybe...
"Michelle."
"Hi Y/N so have you been found kid in the hoodie?"
"Not yet, and I don't plan to." she seemed amused by my replies, she wouldn't be for long. "Not until I'm ready for the whole shebang."
"Shebang?"
"My Mom says it a lot don't judge me!"
"Ok I won't... but I will tell Peter Parker that I have a hint. It might be a wild goose chase if he doesn't know who to look for."
"You won't be telling Peter."
"and why won't I?"
"Because I know who your soulmate is."
"Wha- How? I don't even know?!"
"I could tell you, I could tell you about who she is, I could tell you what your future will be, as long as you don't tell anyone about mine."
"Fine." a smirk grew onto my face. "I won't tell him, now tell me about mine!"
"Princess Shuri."
"Of Wakanda? No way."
"You'd be surprised how many people have tried to find me."
PETER'S POV
I still hadn't found them.
I didn't even know who to look for. I had no clues. I've never really thought about what my soulmate could look like, I didn't care, as long as I had someone I could care about. I never needed to worry about who I liked. I had the universe to figure it out for me. I had a guarantee. A guarantee for love, for them. I never needed to worry about love.
Now I do.
I need to be thinking of who I could bring it down to I needed an algorithm that wouldn't fail me like my classmates. I needed a- "Peter!"
"What? Oh what Ned?"
"You have been so out of it for the past couple days, are you okay?"
No "I think so."
"You're not okay Pete and that's okay, just please tell-"
"They called me Pete."
"Wha-"
"My soulmate, they called me Pete as I was swinging around doing my thing. Making sure they were okay. Now I wish they would ask me."
"Peter, you'll find them."
"They seem to be trying really hiding."
"Maybe they were scared, I mean you're a literal avenger, that can be pretty scary."
"I guess,"
"Ok let's try to narrow it down, did they have" Ned moved his hands around his chest in a circular motion trying to say... mammary glands.
"I don't know."
"How do you not know?"
"HOODIES HIDE A LOT DUDE!"
"Ok jeez let's just think of something else."
Something changed in me at that moment. Being able to think about it. Having a somewhat nice talk about the whole situation. Taking the time to talk made me realize "They don't want me."
