"I'm home..."

"(y/n)-! It's almost midnight! Where were you?" Your mother rushed towards you the moment you opened the door.

You shook your head, "I'm sorry, mom...I lost track of time. Did I worry you?" a tired expression evident on your face but you tried to cover it the best you could.

She sighed, giving you a quick hug before resting her hand on the side of your face. "Of course I'm worried, did you see the news? It's a mess outside." noticing the fatigue aura basically oozing out of you.

"You look tired, go and get some sleep." She smiled, hands now on your back. Gently patting it as you went to your room.

As you walked, you knew your body was longing for slumber but somehow your hand was reluctant to open the door. You stared at the door, what were you waiting for? Open it.

"(y/n)...? Is something the matter?" Your mother asked, already preparing to go back to her room to destroy her eyes with more blue light.

The non-stop pain in your head wasn't what bothered you. "Um..." You fumbled with your fingers. "Can you..." Back facing your mother, it felt like an embarrassing question to ask.

"Can you...stay with me...for a while..?" You turned around, head lowered to the ground. Your face was probably red as hell, just what kind of a request was that?

I sound like I'm five...

Your mother's chuckle calmed you down. "Look at you, I never thought you would ask me something like this." She laughed, cupping your face with both hands.

You huffed, "What-? Do I not do that?" feeling a bit offended.

A soft smile tugged the edge of her lips, "You don't, and it worries me sometimes of how independent you are." She sighed, turning you around as she embraced you from behind.

"But what you asked just now instantly filled me with euphoria."

You heaved, opening the door with your mother still clasping onto you. "You say it like I'm super reserved or something."

She snickered, not taking what you said to heart as you lounged on the bed. "Now now, should I spoil you the latest book I've been working on? I got lots to spill."
