Chapter 7: Old Wounds, New Blood

A/N: Hello my readers, I'm back. I know this chapter took longer than others but now that classes restarted and I'm still stuck in my home country, it's tough. Hopefully, it's worth the wait for you!

16:00, Osaka, Japan, Year 2051

30 miles off Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, inside the far reaches of a warehouse, below the ground level, there is an elevator. Within it, the familiar visages of Ragu and Meguro are found, having taken Jupiter as a prisoner.

"I find it strange that the doc only asked us to retrieve him. Weren't there 3 escapees?" - asked a puzzled looking Meguro

"Dr. Nawatami has his reasons and we had orders to follow" - answered Ragu as they reached the laboratory's floor.

The elevator door opened, they stepped out and started on their way to Nawatami's main operation room. Ragu motioned to two of the many guards clad in black armor and helmets to accompany them as Meguro carried Jupiter over his shoulder.

"This guy is a nuisance, what are we gonna do if he wakes up?" - asked Meguro as they trekked steadily, turning a few corners every few meters

"There's insulation equipment in the labs to keep him contained and unable to use his power, although I wouldn't have expected you to experience a lack of faith in your own poison, Meguro" - replied Ragu as they arrived at a corridor with two large doors at the end.

They opened the doors, giving way to a pristine looking, state-of-the-art laboratory filled with all kinds of scientific equipment ranging from automated analysers, vials and tubes, containing diverse chemicals to a large chamber built for experiments, inside which was a large chair-like contraption with built in restraints. There were a multitude of screens for data display in the center of the room on top of a large table, in front of which was Dr. Nawatami sat in a black revolving chair, intensely focused on the screens, at least until he heard the sound of the doors opening behind him.

"You've made it with out precious cargo. Marvelous work, you two" - proclaimed Nawatami as he swirled in his chair to face the entrants and motioned for them to place Jupiter inside the chamber

"Not without a casualty, he was a real annoyance" - answered Meguro with audible irritation as he placed Jupiter's unconscious form onto the chair.

"I suspected that he'd be very strong, even for you but I didn't think he'd kill Chimori. I guess his anger never really subsided, isn't that wonderful my friends?" - said Nawatami as he eyed his prized subject with a smile

"Frankly I don't give a damn! I'm just glad to be done with it. For all the confidence and power he had, not even he could handle my poison" - roared Meguro as he stepped back and leaned on the wall, closing his eyes.

"I'm actually more interested in why we only had to capture him. There was a woman with him before we cornered him, so how many subjects were there?" - asked an intrigued Meguro

"Ah yes, I presume the woman you say had green hair and blue eyes. That is one of the other two subjects that escaped with him, but we had only managed to locate him so far, so my attention was focused on him. Besides, you three, or rather 2 now, barely managed to subdue him so I can imagine what would have been if you faced all 3 of them" - replied Nawatami with a wry smirk on his fac e

"If that is so then we should have followed that woman as she would have lead us to the other escapee, don't you think?" - asked Ragu thoughtfully

"I can see the logic in your suggestion, but that doesn't really matter. With him here, I can make faster progress on my experiments as the nagging boss man would prefer and if my prediction is right, these 3 have built a sense of camaraderie that ensures they will come for him sooner rather than later" - retorted Nawatami as he prepared to wake up his subject.
