Winter winds blew past on the 14th afternoon of December. Night life running wild with giving on everyone's minds. You stood between Jim and Sherlock to stop a murder, you and the criminal's hands intertwined; John walked beside your brother, looking at the stores as you all passed. Mycroft and Lestrade were beside Molly and Seb, trailing behind.

Jim kept glancing to you, clung onto his arm, pointing around at every small glimmer. If anyone else did this he would 'off' them for being too boring and typical but seeing you do so made him want to buy everything you laid eyes on, just to keep you smiling.

"Okay, so we need gifts for mum and dad," you quip to your brothers.

"Must we? Doesn't mother receive enough cards? We are going to be there after all, our presence is enough," Mycroft scoffs.

"No, we need to get them both something different, from each of us, got it?" You read over your list but felt Jim tap your arm.

"You're going to your parent's for the holiday?'

"Only for a few days... I actually wanted to talk to you about that," Jim felt his heart drop. He knew you wouldn't want to introduce you. "I called my mum last week, like a good child!" You shout to your brothers. "Told her about you,"

"You... told her about me?" That was utterly shocking to him.

"Well, of course! A little unsurprising to her, apparently, when I told her who you were," you blabber on, "dad and her wanted you over to actually meet you!"

"Not on my watch!" Sherlock growls.

"Too bad! Mum and dad insisted," you stick your tongue out at Sherlock, "shut up because they want you to bring John," you look back to Lestrade and Mycroft. "I didn't say anything about you two, don't worry,"

The nod thankfully as you tug at Jim's arm. "I'll be happy to go, love," he kisses your temple as your hand blocks Sherlock trying to stop it.

"Mm, Mikey, does mum have a herb scissor?"

"Yes, she has nearly everything a professional kitchen could dream of, Calixta,"

"Don't call me that," you flip him off before walking up to Jim who was admiring a glass calligraphy pen and ink set. "Oh, mum would love that," you gasp.

"I thought so too, from what you've mentioned she seems more classy compared to your father,"

"He's the odd goofball of the two," you giggle before taking the kit in your hands. "Which is why I picked out this!"

"A Oyster mushroom growing kit?"

"He will love it! Don't worry, this will be from us both,"

"Us? I think I should get them something myself,"

"Don't spend all your money, love," you pat his hand as he deadpans.

"Darling, you may be the smartest Holmes-"

"I heard that!" Mycroft calls as Sherlock scoffs despite being all the way across the large store.

"But, you forget that money isn't a problem for me," he pinches your cheek mockingly.  "How would Mr Holmes like this?" He held a box for a 'make your own Grand Prix model car'.

"He would love it," you rub your scrunched nose against his making him tense in confusion your eyes cheekily smug.

"I love you,"

"Mm, I know," you shoot back making him stop you from leaving pulling you close to pepper kisses on your cheek.

As you fell face first into the pile of snow as well as pulling your brothers down to their dismay. Sherlock warmed up to the game as Mycroft jumped up with a scowl before smiling as Lestrade copied you.

Molly walked up to Jim who was watching from a bench. "You really love her,"

He turned to her with a tired smile. "I do, but I still don't know what she'd like for Christmas... I was thinking some jewelry but nothing is good enough, nothing is meaningful enough,"

"Well, it can be. Buy her a promise ring,"

"A what?"

"God, you are hopeless," Molly chuckles. "A promise ring is like an engagement ring but not really... It's more so to promise commitment,"

"That's actually a good idea," he hums in surprise.

"I'm offended you thought my ideas would be bad,"

"They usually are, Miss Hooper," he toasts his cup with hers before standing and walking to you. "Darling, as cute as you are like this, we don't want you getting sick,"

"You're boring, Jimmy," you pull him down next to you as everyone burst into laughter, his drink spilling against the pile of white.

His face lifted to be dusted lightly with melting snow. "You're lucky I this isn't my favourite suit,"

"Oh, the poor devil in Westwood," you talk baby like as he stood up, brushing down his coat and taking it off the cover you up.

"Don't get sick," his tone was playfully stern as you salute. "I'll be back, I love you,"

"Love you too," you kiss him quickly. "Don't kill anyone," calling out to him a few meters away, he replies quickly.

"Can't promise anything!" He sings, his finger shaking in the air.
