Chapter 15: First day of work

I can't believe I did that! I was sitting in the backseat of the car in disbelief. I have never done that to a guy before. My heart was still pounding against my chest. I place my hand on my chest to get some deep breaths in to calm myself down.

"So their son Baxter seems nice" mama said out of the blue.

My eyes snapped at mama fearing she knew what I did to him back there. Mama turned around on her seat and raised an eyebrow at my silence.

"Uhhh....yeah...yeah he is great" I stuttered out. I am mentally facepalming myself right now.

"You know. He is only a year older then you sweetie. How great would it be if you were to be friends with him!?" Mama asked me excitedly.

"Yeah.....that would be....fun?" I said to her. I don't think I would be able to face him at school after what I did today.

"Scarlett honey please. Amanda already has a boyfriend at home. Once she graduates from high school, she will marry him as planned" daddy told mama.

"I don't like him William. I never liked him. I felt like he was hiding his true self" mama expressed her worry to him.

Daddy took mamas hand in his and kissed the back of her hand and gave her a reassured smiled.

"Don't worry honey. He's a good kid" daddy told her.

I just rolled my eyes. If only he knew. Then I felt my eyes grow heavy, and suddenly darkness consumed me. 

The next day

I woke the next morning to my alarm going off. I reach out and turn it off. I see that I am in my bed. Which I don't remember coming up here last night. Probably daddy carried me upstairs and didn't want to wake me up.

I looked over at my phone and saw that it was 7:45 a.m.  My first shift at the diner will start in a hour. So I quickly got up and took a shower. After my shower, I quickly blow dried my hair. I did a Dutch braid and I put a flower in the braid. Then I put some mascara and lip gloss. I quickly ran into my closet and wore my work uniform.  It was a white skirt that rested mid thigh with a white shirt and I have my turquoise apron on. I decided not to wear the cap Cause I didn't want mess up my braid. I looked at myself in the mirror and I saw how good I looked, that I took a few mirror selfies. What can I say, I look good.

I walked downstairs to the kitchen and saw mama sipping her tea. When she looked up, she started to squeal loudly.

"Did my baby get a job already?!" She asked me all excited

"Yes I did" I laughed a little. I looked over at my watch and saw that it was 8:20 a.m. Shit I'll be late!

"I got to go mama. I'll see you later!" I tell her as I kissed her on her cheek.

"But what abour breakfast?!" She asked me concerned.

"I'll eat some at the diner mama. Now I gotta go. Bye!!" I said as I ran out the door.

I took the bus to the diner since I didn't have my drivers license. I got my permit but I never drove a car, I'm scared to get behind the wheel.  When the bus came to my bus stop, I had 5 minutes to spare. I sped walk inside the diner and I accidentally bumped into someone.

"Watch where you're going bitch" some girl snarled at me.

I rolled my eyes at her and walked pasted her and got into the diner. I didn't give her my time or day. I heard her huff in anger that I didn't give her a reaction. Once I got inside I was greeted by Jasper.

"Hey there gorgeous. Ready to start off your first shift?" Jasper asks me with his million dollar smirk.

"Ready as I'll ever be" I tell him.
