CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
~America's POV~
After school, I grabbed my hat, gloves, scarf and got ready to go meet Russia at the skate rink. Of course I didn't want to go, especially after what happened last time, but I didn't really have a choice. We already had missed a day of the project.
So instead of procrastinating and watching Netflix while eating popcorn, which is all I really wanted to do, I stood up unenthusiastically and got ready to go to the rink.
"Hey Nada!" I shouted down the hallway. "Can you take me to the rink?"
Shuffling was heard from his room before he opened his door and peered out, blue eyes concerned as usual. "Are you sure you want to go alone?"
"Yeah I'll be fine," I respond, waving any of his nervous thoughts away. "Could you pick me up at seven?" I ask, already trotting down the stairs.
Ever since Russia basically rescued me, I haven't felt as nervous around him. Something about him backing off me and asking for my number today made him seem slightly less intimidating. Something gives me the feeling that he wouldn't hurt me after all that's happened in the past few weeks. At least, I don't think he'd try anything stupid while our principal continued to blackmail us.
And he asked for my number. He probably wouldn't give me his number unless he actually somewhat trusted me, right?
Canada appeared behind me, spinning his car key chain on his finger lazily. "Let's go then."
"Thanks," I smiled at him.
Together we hopped into his pick-up truck and drove off in the direction of the rink.

I pushed open the door to the hockey rink, absentmindedly checking the time on my phone. 5:32. Two minutes late, but what's new?
I look up to find Russia clambering off the ice and talking heatedly with China.
China... ?
I freeze in my tracks, emotions ripping dangerously through my heart.
'It's in the past,' I remind myself as my self-doubt starts seeping in. 'You owe him nothing.'
Of course, Russia and China decided to notice me at that exact moment. China's eyes narrow before he grins evilly in my direction. I feel incredibly uncomfortable, bad memories seeping into my mind and soiling my good mood. I tear my gaze away, wondering how everything between us spoiled so fast.
Russia doesn't really acknowledge my presence, just sends his trademark disapproving look my way. Together they make their way towards me.
"What are you doing here?" China asks, genuinely seeming confused. "I thought you didn't like skating?"
"More like she can't skate," Russia scoffs, rolling his eyes and I glare at him.China looks at him confusedly before something identifiable crosses his face and he looks at me, suddenly seeming on edge.
"Oh is he your new boyfriend?" China asks sarcastically, looking me up and down disgustedly.
I'm so shocked at his question it takes a moment for my brian to process the information. Wait-- what?! Why the heck would he think that? Before I can respond, he eyes Russia before turning back to me.
"Don't worry, you're perfect for each other," he states condescendingly and I frown angrily.
He broke up with me, why is he acting like this? Tears threaten to spill out of my eyes, but I'd never show how much he hurt me. Dating China was fun while it lasted, but I'm glad I realized that he was a dick before it was too late. He had been super caring and kind, and everything would have gone along smoothly if he wouldn't have asked too much of me too early.
