Ok, I said Cassandra's first analysis is next and it is, but I though I would do a ship analysis first.
And this is more of a preference on what I would write, I guess.
(Also I'm not using my religion as an excuse why I'm not shipping them, soooo, yep :) enjoy!)
Cassarian:
Positives: Both of these characters went down a dark path in their lives, and have suffered trauma. We know that Varian will go to endless lengths for Cassandra and her happiness. Even willing to sacrifice things he wants to make her happy. Varian can help Cassandra more than anyone. By season 3, other than Zhan Tiri, Varian is the only voice she would actually listen to. Although she refused his help, she still listened to what he had to say instead of pushing him aside like she did Rapunzel or Eugene. Cassandra also saves Varian at least twice. Both have tempers, which could be a negative, but it will oddly keep each other in line.
Negatives: They're 8 years apart. Cassandra doesn't really treat Varian right throughout the series (except for the ending of Great Expotations and whenever she saves him) both have temper, so prone to fight often
Ship or no?: Yes. They're an adorable couple.
Hear me out. The 8 years difference is the only actual problem. However, New Dream has the exact same issue. 7 year difference. So at this point, within the future, Varian and Cassandra can be a cute couple. Besides, in this particular time period, it wasn't only normal to have such a gap, it was almost expected. The problem with age gaps is maturity, and Varian proved to be the more mature of the two by season 3 despite the fact that he was the younger one by 8 years. Sooooo...
(P.S. It actually isn't canon that Cass is Lesbian. Doesn't mean she isn't, but it is canon that she at least likes guys. She liked Andrew despite it being an act, she still liked him. Just a reminder for future reference.)
New Dream:
Positives: Eugene isn't the only one doing the saving. Rapunzel isn't either, proving that they need each other, both saving each other. Eugene better himself for her sake. Rapunzel is willing to give him many chances. They comfort each other. They protect each other, and would do everything for each other. No matter what they may fight about, they always come back with open arms and never stop loving each other. I mean what is there not to love about them?
Negatives: 7 years difference.
Edit : At least they were originally in the movie, but series actually made Eugene 2 years younger, making them five years apart in the series. It was still seven years apart at some point and I hadn't heard people complaining about that is what my point is. Thank you Pug_Moneyz55 for helping point that out.
Ship or no?: Yes! These two are perfect!
Cassunzel:
Positive: Cass will continually fight to protect Raps. Rapunzel will keep Cassandra in line, and their opposite attitudes oddly complement each other. Together, they would be rather balanced.
Negatives: They seem more like sisters, Cassandra has a lack of communication, Rapunzel has a lack of listening or understanding in what Cass means. Prone to fight.
Ship or no?: not really. They make great sisters
I can see where Cass might have feelings, but they're more likes adopted/honorary sisters in my view. And the point of tts was about their "friendship" and the writer specifically said that they're like sisters in a interviewer with a YouTuber. (Not that that part exactly matters. It's just I don't ship them)
Third least favorite ship.
Hugarian (is that their ship name?):
Positve: Both have the same interests, both have criminal past, Varian helps Hugo become a reformed thief, both able to set aside their differences to work together
Negatives: prone to fight... I can't find a negative bc, they're relationship isn't really formed and there's only so much of Hugo that we actually know...
Ship or no?: no.
This is merely a preference. They were created to be Alchemy Brothers, and it just really doesn't rub off on me as a ship at all. I don't have a reasoning behind it and you don't have to ship or not ship someone. It's merely a matter of preference. To me, they're so much better off as brothers. Probably my least favorite ship.
Cassgene:
Positives: they work great together, both are adventurous, they have a mutual respect for each other
Negatives: never seem to agree, enjoys the other's suffering, fight none stop
Ship or no?: no.
Again, they're more like siblings, rather than a couple. It just wouldn't work. Well it's possible, but chances are slim. They would walk ou on each other and Eugene would probably have a concussion from a thrown vase or something. Just how I feel how it would go. Probably second least favorite ship.
Varipunzel:
Positives: both are rather optimistic, Rapunzel would make sure Varian takes care of himself, Varian would do what he could to make things work.
Negatives: Rapunzel can take Varian for granted. Varian's temper might be a little extreme for Rapunzel to deal with (not saying she can't, but... that's what gets in between her and Cass)
Ship or no?: not really.
I mean, tolerable and am even making one for a change, but I don't actually ship them. I see them as honorary siblings. Varian has a respect for Rapunzel as a younger brother would for an older sister. (Trust me, I know siblings. I come from a family of nine kids, so I know what I'm talking about as the middle sibling, seeing and feeling all sides of the relationships). Rapunzel seems to have a soft spot in her heart to protect Varian after he reformed.
Catalina×Varian (dk ship name):
Positive: Cat is sweet but strong and would keep Varian in line with her own sass. She would also make sure that he takes care of himself. Both keep their friends close and are reformed from past crimes. They will get each other nerves but in a good way, creating a mutual respect and easy going conflict and fun. Both are super kind and caring.
Negatives: Where Varian has a bit of a temper, Catalina has more and turns into a werewolf when not in control. Although that's fine, but Cat would probably be scared of hurting him. Cat is adventurous, where Varian is more likely to stay close to home.
Ship or no: yes.
I can see them as siblings, but I can see them as a an adorable couple as well. It's kinda like the Varipunzel ship, but it's still different and I see their interactions less which makes it easier for me to ship them. Anyways, their ship will be fluff while his and Cassandra's will probably be more angsty.
Requests are open for the next part.
