As quickly as it had started, it ended. Albert pulled away, face beet red and I'm sure mine was too. "S-sorry," he stammered sheepishly.

I took his hand in mine, pulling him into a hug, "it's okay."

"Thanks," he breathed, resting his chin on my head.

She was ten, now. Her brown hair short and brown eyes about as bright as they would ever be. She was chasing her brother, evading her parents' wrath.

"Jack, wait for me!" She called after her brother. The slightly older boy stopped, bending over slightly.

"Slow poke," he grinned.

"Am not!" She giggled, punching his arm. Jack always found a way to bring light to the darkest of situations. Raya had always admired that in her twin brother.

"Are too," he laughed. His sister blew a piece of her hair from her face. She was the prettier of the two, and smarter too. Her only flaw being she was rarely able to find the good in the bad. "We gotta keep going." The boy finally said, starting at a walking pace until both children heard their parents' angry shouting.

"They're coming!" I yelled, sitting up in bed with beads of sweat dotting my forehead.

"Who's coming?" Albert asked, his head appearing over the edge of my bed.

"Just a dream," I sighed.

"C'mon," he smiled, waving for me to join him on his bed. I followed, stifling a yelp as he pulled me down and flipped the covers over me.

"You're super warm," I sighed after a bit, moving to play with his red hair.

"You're burning up," he replied. "Hold on."

Albert left the room, returning a little while later with a thermometer. He held it under my tongue until it beeped and he gave me a frown. "What?"

"You got a fever, Sunshine," he explained, leaving again. He came back a short while later with a couple extra blankets and a glass of water.

"No I don't," I coughed.

"Shhh," he whispered, climbing in next to me. He then pulled the covers over us both and placed his arm over my waist.

"Nooo! I'm hot!" I yelped, trying to get out from the heat.

"It'll help!" He countered, pulling me into him.

"Nooo!" I squirmed in his grip, eyes closed until I felt my face touch something. My eyes flew open, only to see Albert's face beet red. I felt mine grow even hotter than it was and pulled back. "Sorry..."

"You done squirming?" He grinned, trying to ignore what had just happened.

"I'm gonna go to sleep now," I almost inaudibly whispered.

"Okay," he matched my sound and tone.

I woke up to Katie shaking me. "Raya, someone's here." She whispered to me, face horror-struck.

"What?" I whisper-yelled, moving gently and slowly so I didn't wake Albert.

"Someone's here," she restated.

"Where?"

"Trying to get in right now," she whispered.

"Okay, okay. We can figure this out," I said allowed, pulling on a vest and some of Albert's clothes. I then grabbed two hats, stuffed my hair into one and told Katie to do the same. "There's a knife in the bathroom down the hall, go get it and some rope from the closet."

"That's totally not terrifying at all."

"Just do it!" I hissed, pulling a box out from under Albert's bed and pulling my knives and other trap supplies. By the time whoever was trying to get in got in, we had the whole place trapped. We'd also left notes on each of the boys' beds so they didn't freak out or come out. "We're going to hold down the fort while the boys are sleeping. You up for this?"

The blonde girl nodded. "You kids think a rope is gonna trip me up?" The male voice from the other day hissed as I watched him step over one of my ropes casually. I signed 'go hide in the kitchen', to Katie and watched her leave.

"Who are you?" I growled from my hiding spot.

"Callaway. Doctor Callaway," he explained, a twinge of venom dripping from his words.

"Is that your first, or last name?"

"Last name," he hissed.

"That ain't creepy at all," I snapped, ignoring the overwhelming sensation of turning around. I definitely should have turned around. An arm wrapped around my waist, pinning my arms to my sides while the other one held a knife to my throat. I shrieked, cutting it off when the cold, sharp metal pressed against the sensitive flesh of my neck.

(A/N: Hey, y'all! So, this chapter was a bit shorter, but I wanted to leave it as is for now. I'll try to update soon, but I'm a very busy girl lately. Have a great day!)
