Chapter 37: Land of Yesterday

Mazikeen's POV:
Winter of 1992
It was our first Christmas without Lucifer and things in the house were different. Soon after he had left my mother and father had burned his picture off the wall that we had in our manor. My mother was obviously upset with him leaving but my father was different. He was quiet but was weird about it. He would get angry and yell when anyone even uttered Lucifer's name. Unlike everyone else I had not seen the error of Lucifer's ways. I soon went through Lucifer's books and journals and realized my family was bad. I had walked downstairs and saw my mother sitting with my father, Anatole and Andre. "Why did Lucifer leave?" My father got angry "We do not speak of him. He had to be punished and he knew that. So he left." I shook my head "I know punishment....and he did not deserve that. He followed your stupid rules and it still wasn't good enough! So what does it take to please you? Break your rules and you fall, follow them and you still loose! Doesn't matter if you're a sinner! Doesn't matter if you're a saint! Nobody can win so what's the point!" My father stood up "That is enough Mazikeen!" Then my mother looked at him "Francis-" He snapped "No! If she wants to know punishment then she will know punishment!" I shook my head "I am ashamed to be a Morningstar if this is the way we treat our family!" I was then dragged down to the basement where I stayed for 3 days. Francis would come down every few hours and cast spell after spell. I was tortured for hours on end. Though I was only 13 during this he still didn't show mercy. I don't know what spells he used but by the time he was done a crescent moon and star shaped scar had appeared on my hands. One palm had the moon and the other had the Star. I would wear gloves from then until 1993. I was cursed from that day forward.

When I was finally was let out I acted like I had learned my lesson but I knew I had to learn what Lucifer had went on about. Cain had approached me and looked at me. "I don't know if I can even trust you anymore." I shook my head "I don't know what you've been told, see I am not your enemy." He shook his head "Still. You're gonna loose your mind if you go in Lucifer's path." I shook my head "I don't care if I loose my mind!" I held up my hands "I'm already cursed!" He gasped and looked at me. "What did he do." I had told him and he nodded "I need to go speak with someone." He then left to his room and came out later "Father I'm going to deal with some business but I'll return later!" My father nodded "Ok be back by 7." I would learn in 1997 that he had left to make an unbreakable vow with Remus Lupin and Lucifer.

Cain's POV:
I had met up with Lucifer who had told me to contact him if something happened to Mazikeen. When I arrived to the place I saw some man with scar marks on his face. "Who is this?" I asked and Lucifer sighed "Remus Lupin. Mazikeen's godfather." I looked confused "I've never seen him around plus father never mentioned him." Lucifer looked me in the eyes. "That's because Francis isn't Mazikeen's father. Just like how Natalia isn't Mazikeen's mother." I shook my head "This who is she to us?" Remus spoke up "Technically she's your cousin. Let me explain." After he explained everything it made everything that happened until that point make sense. "I'll do anything to protect Mazikeen." Me and Lucifer made an unbreakable vow with Remus and after some talking we went our separate ways.

Mazikeen's POV:
                              Summer 1993
Though Lucifer had been gone for a year I had noticed that an owl kept leaving letters in Lucifers room. When mother and father had left for a short trip I had went in and opened the letters. I was shocked when I saw what it said.

My Dearest Lucifer,                    July 5 1992
   I received your letter saying you were coming to visit. I do wish you would tell your father about us. I told my mother and father but they aren't that happy with me. Which you would be too if you found out your daughter is only 17 and married. Of course I didn't tell them I'm expecting. I know we may be young but I want to get our own place and start our family Lucifer. I don't want our child to be around our crazy families with their pureblood bullshit. I understand you love your sister and want to protect her so why don't you bring her with us. From what I hear she is lovely and I think you could save her from your father turning her to the dark side. Please get back to me soon.

I kept looking around and saw another from about a week after Lucifer had left.

  My Dearest Lucifer,                 July 17 1992
     Why have you stopped returning my letters? I'm afraid I have said something wrong. You told me that you were scared your father may have found out you're becoming an auror so it frightens me that you're not writing back. I'm scared for your safety and scared if your father sees this then he will come after me too. Lucifer you're smart and strong so I know you would be able to escape but remember that you have a child on the way. Be strong for me my love. I'll spend a lifetime giving you my heart. I swear I'll be yours forever till forever falls apart.

Now I wanted to know who this Lena is also....LUCIFER IS MARRIED AND HAS A KID ON THE WAY?! Well this just got a whole lot more crazy. I put the letters back and walked to my room. I thought about it and knew I had to find out who she was. Now she mentioned that her family was pureblood so it shouldn't be that hard to figure it out. After a couple of weeks I found out that the person that Lucifer had married was a girl named Helene Kuragin. She had two brothers named Dolokhov Kuragin and Dmitri Kuragin. Her mother is Irina Kuragin and her father is Alexei Kurigan. I knew that by now she has had the child and I hoped Lucifer was with her and helping to raise the child. I knew that Lucifer was a good man and probably ran to be with her.
