It was another beautiful Wednesday, the sun was hotter than ever, but I didn't care. I was happy. The ballet class I attended yesterday left me happier and refreshed than I excepted. It was past six in the morning and I was all cladded in my school uniform. A Golden brown straight skirt and a white short sleeve shirt. My school bag was on my back and my naturally long and curly hair was packed into a tight bun.
Assembly don't start until 7:30 so I had plenty of time to get to school if I was going to trek, but however, I decided not to trek to school at least not on a good day like this.
I locked the door on myself and went to my safe where I kept the money. Miss Mayowa gave me a tester, I took 500naira from there and kept the remaining money in my safe which was buried in between my clothes that was under my bed.
I looked around my room one last time to be sure the room was in order. Once I was satisfied, I headed out of my room, ready for school.
I stepped out of my room and headed for the kitchen. I had already woken up early enough to make breakfast, so all I needed was to sit and enjoy my breakfast. But first I went to check on my siblings. March and Michael were both in their separate rooms doing God knows what.
I knocked on March's door first and it was a male's voice that opened the door to answer me.
"Yeah?"
"Is my sister, March in there?"
"Yeah, you must be her little sister then, not bad,"
He said looking at me lustfully as he licked his lips hungrily. I snared at him and his eyes were now back on my face away from my boobs that he was unconsciously staring at. With a frown on my face, I said these words to him not caring about the consequences.
"You know what? Just tell her that I'm off to school and if you're going to fuck someone it shouldn't be a school girl- pervert!"
I walked away from him heading back to the kitchen. It was in that minute my younger brother walked out of his room. Usually, I would smile at him trying to be friendly but at this moment I was too pissed to do that. I just brushed past him and entered the kitchen. Seconds later, I was devouring my breakfast which was bread and egg with hot cocoa, totally ignoring my little brother's existence.
He looked at me skeptically and I paid no attention to him. I'm sure it's something very deteriorating that was about to come out of this mouth.
"Good morning, big sister Adeyemi,"
I dropped the fork I was using to eat, turning around to see if I was the one he was talking to. I was the one because I'm the only one with the middle name Adeyemi. Still, I needed to be sure he is still the same person that spoke to me rudely yesterday so there was a chance it wasn't me he was greeting. After looking around to acknowledge I was the one who he was talking to, I still had to ask.
"You mean me?"
"No, your shadow you blockhead. Of course it's you. Who else would be referring to you with the name Adeyemi?"
I just rolled my eyes and asked with a Blank expression,
"What do you want?"
"Actually, what doesn't that guy want with you, he is asking you for head now,"
"Gawd! No, why would you even think that? I was just telling him to let March know I'm off to school..."
"Oh, well. Good! Anyway, I'm off, make sure dinner is ready by 7 pm. My guys are coming over,"
With that, he walked out of the kitchen with his breakfast packed in a small takeaway. I sighed, feeling mentally drained already. This is going to be a long day. Finishing the last of my breakfast, I headed out of the house, making my way to school. I got to school at 7:35 am on dot even after entering the bus, I still couldn't get here on time. I quickly joined in on the assembly which lasted for another 15mins. Once we were all dismissed to our classes, my classmates were quick in taking their seat while I was looking at them wondering what the rush is for.
Seconds, after I had settled down, our Business Studies teacher, walked in. It was then I understood what the rush was about, and it was about to get very ugly very quickly and I was ready for it. He walked into the class with such boldness and confidence, walking around the class like he was an external invigilator. One dared not say a word to talk of a whisper we didn't want to be the scape goat he would use to try out new punishment.
After a full 5mins of staring contest, he said in his unreasonably loud voice.
"Everyone with their pencils?"
"Yes, sir!"
We all chorused with fear evident in our voices.
"Their textbooks? "
"Yes, sir!"
We all chorused with fear still very evident in our voices.
"Writing pad?"
"Yes!"
"Well, bring them out. We are having a shorthand pop quiz,"
Of course, I couldn't partake because I would have to read something in the textbook and that's where the problem is. It was certain I was going to fail this pop quiz for the 218th time.
I didn't even bother making any effort as he keeps bark out orders, I just rested my head on the table pretending to be asleep.
"Time up! Pass your writing pad to the person in front of you. Maddylen, I know you didn't do the pop quiz so there is no point in asking for your writing pad. Make yourself useful by collecting that of your classmates,"
I sighed in annoyance, knowing I would have to converse with them. I just nodded my head in response to the expectant look he was giving me.
Seconds later, he looked away from me and I brought out my recorder to record his teachings. Today's topic was office management so I paid rapt attention to his every word not wanting to be caught unaware with a question.
The class lasted an hour and a half before the manual bell rang for our next class. He gave us an assignment and I was thrilled because I knew that I had a neighbor who was willing to help.
As he left the class, I took my recorder for my next class and long-pressed with my school note. Once I was sure I have everything I needed, I went around the class to collect the writing pad for the pop quiz my classmates just did. While they were all leaving for the next class which was Computer Science, I was heading to the teacher's office to drop off all the writing pad I just collected.
After submitting it, I made my way to the building that's housed our computer lab. Good thing I got there in time if not, I'm sure the computer teacher Mr. Daudu was going to insult me for my tardiness.
I went to sit in front of a laptop that was specially imported to the school for me. Seconds later, Mr. Daudu walked in and we stood to greet him. The class went on smoothly and at the end of the day, I went home happy that no one humiliated me in school today.
If only I knew the humiliation that was waiting for me at home.
