𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 2022

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒏

" Do you really think she can pull this off."

"Well she was able to while they had a mid-terms test. I am certain she can pull this off."

The Principal of the school was talking to the NECO Examiner In the hall way. An I happened to have over heard them, I didn't need a sooth sayer to tell me they were talking about me because I noticed there were stealing a not so subtle glance at me. I just sighed listening to my recorder on the subject English since it's our first paper.

Gage was supposed to be here helping me study but as of now I haven't see him since i got to school, and that was around 7:45am. I just hope he was okay it's very unlike him to come late to school especially on a day like this when we have English Exam to write by 12noon. Well I guess he still has enough time to get here, I mean it's only 9:30am.

" Where are you Gage.."

I Whispered unconsciously totally forgetting how loud my voice was. If I had known the consequences of saying that I probably wouldn't have said it out loud. Japheth who was siting two sits away from me looked at me with disgust. I just rolled my eyes and looked away Denise his  best friends chuckled at this exchange between the two of us as he pretend not to be watching us. I sigh paying attention to what I was listening to closing my eyes to calm my worrying heart.

Obviously that didn't work as I began conjuring up horrible thoughts of how things could go horribly wrong. I won't lie I am really worried I'm just glad we were able to do intensive reading on the exam we have this morning. Still that wasn't the point I need him here, right now and I am running out of patience. Opening my eyes to look around anxiously my eyes landed on Japheth again and this  time he was glaring at me . 

"What is the time Japheth."

"Oh nothing, nothing to bother your little head about. I just, well I do hope you are ready to fail NECO the three time."

He blurted out with an Evil smirk at the corner of his lips. I just looked at him unfazed by his statements before looking away again. If I said I wasnt hurt by his statement then I'd be lying. I just choose not to dwell on it because I had bigger things to worry about like why it was almost 10 am and Gage isn't here yet. I am Sincerely starting to get worried, what could possibly be delaying him on a day like this.

While the Vice principal and some of the NECO Offical where entering in and out of our class trying to get things ready for our exam, Adebisi the head girl was on ground to make sure we were all reading and studying for the exam we were having in less than 2hours.  The whole class was awfully quiet as we all tried our best to study I just put my head on the desk listening to my recorder.

"You know for someone who never failed to repeat a class, you are quite lackadaisical about this one. I means do you a plan on repeating JSS3 again."

I looked up at person who spoke and sure enough it was non other than Makenzie Oluwaseyi Ojo. I sigh inwardly wondering what she wanted this time, what ever it was, it wasn't going to be good, nothing good ever come out of this figure head of a girl Called Seyi.

"Hmmm yes seniors Seyi, how many I help you."

" oh it's nothing serious I just figured. Shouldn't you be studying, you know reading for the paper you have in less than 2hours."

" oh I am. I just—"

"Right. You have reading disabilities which prevents you from reading or better still studying. Must be really hard having to take an exam you already failed twice."

She said, she was saying all this things on purpose. She was doing this on purpose and I was fighting the urge not  to cry, fighting the urge not to snap, fighting the urge not to say anything rash because in the end. She is the head girl obviously it will be her words Against mine and they would favour her more no matter how you want to see.  I just sighed and kept mute in response but on second thought, I opened my mouth to say something but I was interrupted.

" shouldn't you be ashamed of your self. You, a whole head Girl of Oceanview secondary school, someone people should be looking up to but here you are. Belittling a junior for something you can not fixed, Shame on you."

"Excuse me new boy, urr i believe I wasn't talking to—"

"The name is Gage, Gage Macaulay. Just look at you, pot calling kettle black. It's obvious you don't know your place at all because if you do, you wont be standing there talking trash about best friends when it's not like you could do better."

He said interrupting Seyi  I couldn't believe this. This is the second time this is happening, that Gage is standing up for me. I soo badly wanted to laugh because for the first time in the history the head girl was being Tackled by a mare junior student. Now that is something you don't see everyday in Oceanview  secondary school.

" whoa just whoa, is it me you are talking to like that ?"

"No boo it's your shadow I'm talking to, see jamb question. And you are supposedly the head girl like this."

He said and I was shocked again. The sad part is i am the center of all this drama that was unfolding in from on my eye, and I couldn't do anything about it. I just keep staring blankly at the both of them as they keep on exchanging word with each other.

" see me see this new boy oo. Abi what did you call your self again, Gage kor garage ni nonsense. I can't believe you are defending her, defending that thing that can't read properly even with glasses. Just so you know the person you are protecting had dyslexia and just in case you don't know what—"

" Oh please spare me the details. It not like you know any better, okay, and just because she had difficulty reading doesn't make  her less of a human being. I bet if you two were to take an impromptu quiz's she would definitely beat  you hands down."

Gage said once again defending me. I never wanted him to find out about my dyslexia at let not like this, and not on the day we were to have an exam to tackle. I sighed again and before Seyi Could come up with a comeback Miss Amarachi walked in and asked.

" what going on here, seem like I'm interrupting something aren't I."

The whole class began to murmur. Some where stealing glances at me while others where looking between Gage and Seyi. No one dared to speak up because they all feared what will before them if they did. At the point Miss Amarachi was getting impatient with the murmuring and In other not to waste more of her time she said.

"You know what, never mind Maddlyen, come with me"

With out a second thought I grabbed my belongings as we both left the class room. While we made our way to the music room Miss Amarachi was stealing glances at me and once we got to the music room she stoped in a her track and finally turned to face me.

" hey, I heard everything. We can talk about when ever you are ready."

" yea thanks. I just want to get this exam done and over with, so I can pretend it never happened."

" awwwn sweetie I am so sorry. How about I treat you to ice cream After this paper."

I smiled briefly at her before she open the door to the music lab for both of us to enter. With out wasting any more of my time I got started on my English exam since it was already 12 on the dot. miss Amarachi, and the Yoruba teacher where the ones invigilating me while I did my exam with the help of Miss Amarachi as she read the question to me.
