One Year Later

Scarlet

It was a Saturday night and my parents were out of town. I was suppose to go with them but I used my best excuses to convince them that I would just stay home with Jordan and Ethan. Get some studying done. I was seventeen now and could manage to stay alive for one weekend.

Of course my big brothers were throwing a party. No surprise there. At 20, the twins were living their best lives. They went to college and worked part time for my dad at the dealership. They worked hard but played harder.

"Why are you here?" I heard somebody ask.

I looked over at a few of my brothers friends, who were already looking at me.

"Huh?"

One of the guys came closer. "Jordan said his sister wouldn't be here." He bit his lip. "Not that I'm complaining..."

Was he flirting with me? I was so bad at reading signals.

"You asked Jordan about me?"

"Hell yeah I did. I'm Cory by the way. You're Scarlet, right?"

"That's me." I smiled back.

"Your brother is a real hard ass you know that? He'd wanna kick my ass if he knew I was talking to you," he whispered as he got even closer to me. "But now that I've heard your sexy voice and seen that sexy ass up close, I don't care. I'm willing to take the beating."

I blushed and looked away. I wasn't necessarily shy but nobody had ever been so matter of fact with me before. He was older and straight to the point. He wanted me and I liked his confidence.

"Let me get you a drink."

Before I could decline, he was already making his way to the kitchen. He brought me back a beer and even though I knew my brothers would be pissed, I drank it. Plus two more. It was the first time that I had drank anything. Jordan and Ethan always made sure to keep me away from it but I wasn't a baby anymore. It was my time to let loose. Mom and dad finally let me stay home, I wanted to press my luck a little.

The room felt like it was a hundred degrees. Even in my tiny red dress, I felt like I was wearing a turtleneck. Dancing didn't help but I loved this music. Dancing always had a way of bringing me to a happy place. I let my hips feel the beat, swaying while Cory was pressed up behind me, running his long arms down my body as I danced.

I felt his lips on my shoulder and even though I didn't know this guy, I liked the attention. I liked knowing he wanted me. I closed my eyes and backed my ass up against him further. He groaned in my ear, making me smile to myself.

"What the fuck is this? Get away from her."

I knew the voice. That sexy as sin voice. The man I had loved for years. Chase.

"Fuck off, Chase. Scarlet's a big girl."

"She's seventeen, asshole! You are fucking lucky her brothers are downstairs. Come on, Scar. Let's go."

As Chase held out his hand for me to take, Cory slipped to the back of my mind. All I could see was Chase. His beautiful blue eyes looking at me and those big strong arms that I knew I fit perfectly into.

I grabbed his hand and as soon as I did Cory went off. "Are you fucking serious right now?"

Chase looked pissed and he stepped in front of me. "Get the fuck out and I won't tell Ethan or Jordan."

He looked between Chase and a few of Cory's friends who gave him the let's go look. He brushed past Chase but stopped at me. "To be continued, beautiful."
