I listened to Chase's voicemail and the butterflies did backflips in my stomach. We could do this, I knew we could. I quickly called him back and while I waited for an answer, so much clarity filled my head. I would do anything to be with him.

"Hi, I'm glad you called," his sexy voice broke through the phone.

"I listened to your voicemail."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. I don't know how we move forward but I'd like to try. I need you too."

"Can you meet for lunch?" He asked.

"Of course."

It's November and it starting to feel like winter. Living in the Midwest has its shares of ups and downs, one down being the weather. This particular day though, is perfect. The sun is shining and there's only a light breeze. I hope this weather sticks around for my birthday tomorrow.

I hype myself up on the drive over. We are both finally on the same page. There is definitely a lot to talk about, the baby and his ex girlfriend, and my brothers being the main ones.

I walk inside and see Chase sitting in a small booth to the right. He stands up as I walk toward him. Although, I'm nervous, I smile back and start toward him. He looks so good in his jeans and black hoodie. His Michigan hat is backwards and I wish I could eat him for lunch.

"I'm glad you came," he says, moving in for a hug.

I give him my entire body, trying to make up for lost time. He, of course, smells incredible. His cologne smells better than the pizza does.

"Hey," I say smiling.

"I ordered us a pepperoni and sausage, is that still your favorite?"

My smile widens and I nod. "Sure is."

"Scarlet, look," he says, reaching his hands out for mine. "I've wanted you longer than what was even appropriate. Shit, your brothers would have kicked my ass a long time ago." A little smile played at his lips.

"I always thought that we had something but you would backtrack and pull away, I assumed it was all in my head."

"You are the most incredible woman I've ever met. I never let myself give you everything that I wanted to, everything that you deserved. My fear of people getting pissed off clouded my judgement and I really am sorry about that."

"I know you are—"

"No, you don't understand. I took your first time and shit on it, Scar. The way I acted after was completely fucked up and I can never say sorry enough. And not telling you about Kelsey and then the fucking baby." He pulled his hat off and busied his hand through his hair before putting it back on. "It was bullshit. I'll never forgive myself but I can try to make up for it."

"There's no reason to bring up the past, okay? It's over with" I shrug. "Did it hurt? Yeah, but I'm over it. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't behind us, okay?"

"I don't deserve you."

"Sure ya do. And my body deserves you, too," I winked, trying to relax the mood.

His sexy smirk appeared and he bit his bottom lip, making me ache a little in between my legs. "Baby, I'm just getting started."

"Oh really?" I teased.

"Here's your large pep and sausage, need anything else?" The waitress asked, sitting down our pizza.

"Just more water and some napkins, please." I smiled.
