"Let's watch a movie. Whatcha in the mood for?" I asked Jordan.

"I don't know..." He trailed off, thinking about it. "I'm in a shitty mood. Let's watch some of that ridiculous horror shit you like. You down? "

"Definitely." I clapped my hands in excitement. "I'll pick one, go make popcorn."

Jordan hopped off the couch and headed into the kitchen just as Chase strolled through the front door, his blonde barbie right behind him. His blue eyes meet mine and he froze in place.

"Yo, I thought you weren't coming home tonight?" Jordan yelled from the other room. "I asked Scar to come over and hang out."

"Sorry, I didn't know you two would be here," I said, standing up. "I can go."

"Don't be silly. You should stay," Kelsey said.

Chase looked at me. "You should stay, Scar. We can go if you wanna spend time with your brother."

"Let's all stay! We can get to know each other better. I've been dying to know more about you. My sister really likes you and the boys talk like you walk on water." Kelsey laughed.

I looked away, feeling really uncomfortable. I didn't want to get to know her better. I wanted her to leave. I wanted her to take her perfect blonde hair and smile and walk away from Chase. I wanted her to stop being so damn nice to me.

I hated that she was always nice to me. I slept with her boyfriend and she had no idea. The reality of this fucked up situation was that she should hate me but instead she was trying to befriend me.

This girl was always going to be around. Her sister was marrying my brother. She was going to be his sister-in-law. We'd be family in a round about way. Sighing internally, I put a smile on my face for my brothers sake and did the right thing.

"I can promise you that I do not walk on water," I said quietly. "The guys, well it's like an unwritten rule or something that they have to take pity on me."

"Nobody takes pity on you—"

Kelsey's phone rang. "Give me one second," she excused herself and as soon as she left, Chase walked toward me. He paused before he got too close and put his hands in his pockets.

"How've you been?"

"Fine I guess," I said, looking toward the kitchen, hoping that Jordan was almost done with the popcorn.

"I miss you, Scar. I really miss you. It's been two months."

I finally met his eyes. "You have a funny way of showing it considering you just walked in here with your girlfriend."

He sighed and stepped closer. "I'm serious. I... I really think we need to talk. I'll have Kelsey leave and we can—"

"Chase, it's not that simple..."

"What's not simple?" Jordan asked, making both Chase and I jump. "Shit. What did I walk in on?"

"Huh? Nothing," I responded quickly.

Jordan's brow rose and he definitely did not believe me but he let it go.

Thank you, Jesus.

Kelsey walked back in with a pouty look on her face. "Chase, can you drive me home? Apparently Leah needs me." She sighed. "I'm sorry to bail on date night. We've barely seen each other for weeks."

"Uh, sure. No problem."

Looking back at me, Kelsey started talking again. "I'm getting your phone number from Chase, okay? Me, you and Leah should grab lunch this week!"
