I walked around Sky Park, which was a park rather close to my dorm, and enjoyed the cool evening wind. It was incredibly beautiful here. I could imagine this park to become my go-to jogging or walking place.
I walked around, lost in my thoughts. So lost that I didn't notice that the sun was setting. I should get back home, before it went dark. I wanted to start going, but... I didn't know in which direction I had to go. Damn it, I got lost.
I looked around, hoping for someone I could ask for directions, but there was no one around. It was like the whole park was empty. I started to panic. My first day in Korea and I got lost. Great job, Y/N!
Suddenly I noticed a blonde girl, just a few meters away from me. I began to walk up to her. "Excuse me!" I said, immediately facepalming myself. I'm in Korea! I should speak Korean.
The girl got startled and turned to me. I stopped my trail and my eyes widened. Oh my gosh, she was so beautiful. I mean, I could only see her eyes since she wore a facemask, but even that part of her face was already stunning.
She looked at me a little in shock. Maybe I scared her. "Oh, I'm sorry... I mean, m-mianhaeyo!" I stuttered the broken Korean words I got together and bowed a little. The girl seemed to relax.
"We can talk in English, if that's more comfortable for you." She said and now I was the one who was startled. I didn't expect such a flawless Australian accent. But her offer made me sigh in relief.
"Thank you so much. I'm sorry to bother you, but I think I got lost. It's my first day in Seoul and I can't find the way back to my dorm." I explained my situation and she seemed to be surprised.
"You're just asking for directions? Oh, I thought.... Nevermind. Sure, where do you need to go?"
Rosé PoV
Phew, they don't seem to know me. A little strange since they look Korean, but their Korean is not that good, so they seem to be a foreigner. I'm just glad that I wasn't caught out here by a fan. I wanted to enjoy some peace and quiet before I had to work again tomorrow.
"I, uhm... Here, that's where I have to go." They showed me the address on their phone and I nodded.
"I know where that is. But the way is a little tricky from here. Do you mind if I bring you there?" I asked, overly kind as I am.
"Oh not at all! I might enjoy the company of someone as beautiful as you!"
I blushed hard when I heard that. What did they say?
Y/N PoV
Oh no, why did I say that? How was I even able to say that? I'm the shyest person I know!
"Thank you..." She said quietly and cleared her throat. I don't know why, but even that sounded beautiful out of her mouth.
We started to walk down the trail and I noticed that I didn't introduce myself yet. "Oh by the way, my name is Y/N. I'm sorry for not introducing myself sooner, I must seem so rude." I said blushing from embarrassment.
"Don't worry. You can call me Rosie. Nice to meet you." The girl said to me chuckling and eye-smiling at me. Since she wore the mask, I couldn't see more of her face.
"Say, Y/N. Where are you from? I figured you're not from Korea." She asked and looked at me. "I'm from (y/country). I am in fact half Korean. My mom was Korean, but I only used to speak Korean as a child, so I kinda forgot most of it. But I really wanted to come here to get to know the culture of the country my mom was from."
"You keep saying 'was'. Did something..." Rosie asked shyly. My expression saddened a bit. "Mom died when I was seven."
"I'm so sorry..." I literally heard her tear up next to me and instantly tried to calm her down.
"Please don't cry, I'm fine, completely fine! Please stop crying..." She wiped away her tears and tried to calm down.
"Maybe we should change the subject?" I suggested laughing at the cute girl in front of me. It was adorable how empathetic she was. I really appreciated that.
"Okay. So, what do you already know about Korean culture?" She asked instead and I thought about it for a second.
"Well, I know some Korean dishes. And I recently got into KPOP." I explained and felt her stiffen up next to me. What a weird reaction.
"Oh really? What artists do you listen to?" She asked shyly and I got confused. It seemed like her life would depend on my answer.
"To be honest, for now I listen to rather old groups. My dad always mocks me for listening to groups that either disbanded or are on hiatus. I think I read somewhere that they were called '2nd generation' or something like that." I explained and Rosie relaxed again. Seriously, what's with this girl?
"I'm kinda shocked that you don't know some of the recently popular groups. Some of them even seem to become successful internationally." She exclaims, crossing her arms behind her back.
"Yeah I wanted to take my time. Besides, there are a lot of popular groups nowadays, I actually don't know where to start." I admitted and Rosie began to laugh.
"It looks like you need a teacher. Want me to teach you about some of the currently popular groups? I actually know a lot about them and the industry." She offered and I couldn't believe my ears. Was I about to make my first Korean friend?
"Y-yes! Of course, I would love to!" I happily agreed to her offer and she suddenly stopped walking. I almost bumped into her since I was walking a little behind her.
"We're here. You're home Y/N." She exclaimed happily and I thanked her a thousand times.
"Don't worry about it, I was glad to help. On second thought, I know how you could repay me. How about you give me your number?" She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. I did the same and we exchanged numbers.
"I'll text you when I have time to meet up. I get rather busy at work, so I don't really know when I have some free time. Is that okay for you?" She asked and I nodded.
"May I ask where you work?" I asked shyly and she got startled a little, but then she removed her mask and smiled confidently.
That look just made my blood rush into my cheeks as fast as a rocket launcher. She was much more pretty than I could've ever imagined. And the confidence her look radiated was just too much for me.
"I'll tell you this: I work in the entertainment industry. But promise me that we get to know each other first before we talk about stuff like work or even kpop. Okay?"
I didn't quite get why she wanted me to promise that, but I happily agreed.
If it meant that I could spend some time with this beautiful stranger, I would promise anything.
