The morning after finding the compass, John B fell asleep on the sofa and Riley in the spare bedroom. JJ came round early in the morning, making John B practically shit himself thinking he was DCS.

JJ came in and was sat on the sofa drinking a beer when John B knocked on Riley's door

"Don't come in!" She quickly shouted, pulling the duvet over her legs.

"Okay okay! I think me and JJ are gonna go see miss Lana today, see if she knows anything about the compass, you coming?" He shouted to her through the door.

"Um yeah give me 5 minutes" she shouted back through, letting out a sigh of relief as she pulled the duvet once more And quickly threw on a pair of sweats and a cami top. She ran her fingers through her hair so she was ready go.

"You're wearing sweatpants? it's like 100° out" JJ asked her as she came through. Riley smiled awkward.

"Oh is it? Um yeah I'll be fine" she replied with a smile and pushed past both the boys. They gave each other a look then shrugged and followed the girl into the van.

"I don't know why you don't try it with Kiara she's clearly into you man" JJ started at John B on the way to Miss Lanas house. He was sat in the back of the van, John B was driving and Riley was in the passenger seat.

"She's all like 'oh John B" JJ mimicked

"Oh is that what she does" John B scoffed, as he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah and she's all sketchy about you diving" JJ continued

"Well Lees the one that kissed me, right Lee?" John B joked  

"And I'd do it again" she joked back with him, making a kissy face at the boy.

"She kissed you on the cheek" JJ spoke up, his jaw clenched.

Riley changed the conversation "hey I got to admit your dads compass in scooters boat, thats kind of freaky" she admitted.

"Yeah I agree I mean it's like it came back to you or some weird voodoo shit" JJ added.

"Yeah and that's why we're gonna go talk to miss Lana, figure this whole thing out" John B concluded

"Yeah I'm sure she'd love to talk to us, not like her husband just died or anything" JJ said sarcastically. Riley giggled as they drove on towards Miss Lanas house.

As the van pulled up to miss Lanas house, JJ gave Riley a knowing look as they looked on at the house that looked as if no one had taken care of it for years, but it had a certain vibe about it that Riley kind of liked.

"You know what this house looks like?" JJ asked turning between me and John B. "Whoever lives here smokes too much weed"

"Hey JJ maybe you should ask if they've got a spare room?" Riley asks JJ, he rolled his eyes at her before  slinging an arm over her shoulder and pulling her into his side.

They all suddenly turn to look between each other as they heard the smashing of glass, and the screams of a woman, and shouts of men. JJ pulled Riley behind him as the teens quickly ran to crouch down the side of the house underneath one of the windows.

"Maybe we should come back? It's a little too soon-" JJ started but John B cut him off.

"Shut up JJ, shut up" he whispered as the three continued listening to the screams of the woman and the clear sounds of men hitting her and destroying her house. Riley could feel her heart begin to beat faster, as JJ pinned her back into the side of the building.

"The compass wasn't in the boat!" Riley heard one of the men shout "where is it Lana!"

"Shit" Riley whispered, a panicked look on her face as she looked at JJ. The compass. The compass John B had in his pocket right this second was the reason behind this?
