Luke Holland
Everyone loves Zoey, which I knew they would. It's hours after arriving here and we're still settled in the studio. All our jobs for the day are pretty much ticked off, so we can spend some time messing with the equipment.
Leo carries the four pizza boxes through the door and dumps them on the table in the corner of the room, ripping a bit of one of the pizzas inside to give to Oliver who runs over to him at the sight of food.
"Tanks," Oliver says, blowing so hard on the bit of pizza Leo is holding in front of him that tiny bits of spit fly everywhere.
Leo laughs, bending forward to kiss his son's curly-haired head before signalling for him to take a bite. "Good boy."
Zoey, who's sitting next to me, speaks up. "Isn't he the cutest little thing?"
I nod, feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket. "Believe it or not, he's Leo's absolute double when he was a kid."
She half-frowns, half-smiles. "Why wouldn't I believe it?"
"Because he's such an ugly bastard now," I reply, saying it loud enough for him to hear.
Leo cuts me a dirty look. "Dude, watch your language."
I hold up my hands. "Sorry, man. I didn't think he would know how to repeat words yet."
Leo let's Oliver hold his big slice of pizza on his own, and it's almost as big as his head. "He doesn't, but he's an innocent little baby, man. Use your head."
The door swings open to reveal the receptionist who works here. It's awkward because we hooked up a few times when I was off my face here.
I avoid eye contact, but she's calling my name. "Luke," she repeats until I look over at her. "There's a woman at the front desk for you. It's your sister."
That familiar feeling of dread takes over me as soon as she says the word sister. I haven't seen her in almost a year. Our relationship rocky to say the least.
"I'm good," I say, getting up to go grab a slice of pizza.
The receptionist steps further in here and I feel like a total bastard for not knowing her name. "But, she says it's urgent and refuses to go unless she speaks to you."
I meet eyes with her, seeing the stress within them, knowing Samantha will be causing some shit down there. In my way of a screwed up apology to this poor girl who seems very nice, actually, I get up to go deal with my sister.
"You cool up here with these guys while I just go sort something?" I ask Zoey, searching her face to find only a sweet smile.
She tucks her hair behind her ear on a nod, whispering, "Of course, don't worry about me."
My eyes meet those of my band mates. "Look out for her." Then I'm striding out of here and towards the reception area.
Samantha is pacing back and forth in front of the revolving door, hands folded together as she mutters something to herself.
