"Yes mom, I have my bug spray." I groaned. She was going through a list of things she swore I needed for college.
"I'm just making sure honey, you know your skin gets all red and itchy when you get bit by a-" She started
"Mom! I'm fine, okay? I'm heading to my dorm as we speak. I'll call you when I'm done putting everything away
I told her I loved her then quickly ended the phone call.
My mom knew how to embarrass her kids, she wanted to come and help me unpack but my sister has the flu so luckily she had to stay home.
"Excuse me, can you tell me what floor the dorm rooms are on?" I asked an employee once I entered the building.
"Second and third." The middle aged woman stated bluntly while staring at her computer
I mumbled a "thank you" and looked down at my room key quickly.
"Room 205, so second floor I guess"
I got on the elevator and pressed the button labeled "2". The doors were about to close but were stopped by a girl who looked very out of breath
"I have to go grab my bags but can you please hold the elevator open?" She asked. I nodded and she thanked me before running away
I stood in the elevator, looking quite awkward, holding the doors open and waiting for the stranger to come back.
"Excuse me sir, can you please let the elevator door close?" The same Middle aged employee called out to me. She looked like she was over it, staring at me like I was dumber than dumb.
"I'm waiting on someone to get their bags. She's gonna be back in just a second" I responded
The random girl came back as soon as I said that, hauling in two suitcases.
"Thank you so much!" She expressed when she walked into the elevator
I smiled and allowed the doors to close.
"What floor?" I asked her
"Hm? Oh, floor 2."
"Same"
The elevator doors opened and we both got out and began walking in the same direction.
"203.....204.....205" I muttered once arriving at my dorm room
The girl was still behind me, creeping
me out a bit. She looked just as confused as I was.
"Can I help you?" I asked, moving my long brown hair out my face.
"This is my room" She explained. My eyes widened a little as it took me by surprise. I took the time to look over her. She had the biggest brown eyes I had ever seen, her dark blue dyed hair complimented her deep brown skin tone perfectly. The lips she had on her mesmerized me, as they were so gorgeous.
"So this is your room too?" She asked
"Yeah. Um, I'm sorry- I thought I signed up for a single room"
"Me too, let me see your room key"
I pulled out my key and she looked at it, snickering a little.
"So this says 206, not 205"
She gave the key back and I looked at it. How did I mistake a 6 for a 5?
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
I moved out her way and allowed her to get into the room.
"It's fine, and hey- looks like we're neighbors" She smiled
"Seems to be that way. I'm Kenan"
"Harmony. We should hang out."
I gave her a nod with a friendly smile- which she reciprocated.
"So, I'll see you around?" I asked nervously. She was really beautiful- and it made me just a little anxious.
"I look forward to it" Harmony pulled her bags into her room then stuck her head out to look at me. She waved then closed her door.
"Wow" I whispered to myself, feeling heat rise to my cheeks.

I like to give a description of the characters usually so the reader could paint a picture within their mind- but I think imma stop doing it so much so you all can conjure up how you would want them to look.
