The lot was nearly empty. There were a couple cars parked and barely any people, that being me and some other guy. He was sitting on the floor, black hoody and black jeans, he was most likely on of those people that worked small shifts at the school's library, I had seen plenty of those when I finished my extra classes with Mr. Simmons.
I leaned back against a wall and waited, Jen said that she would pick me up but her car was nowhere in sight. Maybe she was just running late, but the last time I had the same thought something terrible happened, I couldn't help but shudder at the thought. My heart strained, I wouldn't be strong enough to go through another loss.
I took out my phone worried, there were no missed call but should I call her? That thought was vetoed the moment my flew out of my hand and someone was standing right in front of me.
It was that guy in the hoodie. The blood in my veins chilled and then boiled in anger as I saw my phone cracked and broken on the ground.
"Hey!" I said annoyed.
The man didn't counter; he just stood there his shoulders moving up and down as the only sing of him being alive. His face was covered completely by his hoodie and he slowly neared to the point of being inches away.
My small moment of boldness was instantly replaced by fear. What did this person want with me? For a moment we both just stood there completely still, I even held my breath; I feared that any slight movement I did would send him off into a rampage. I had no idea of what he could be capable of. There were sounds escaping his lips, tiny little whispers that I just couldn't understand.
Then it was all a sudden rush of movements. He pinned me against the wall with two glove-covered hands. The impact vibrated through my entire body, his grip on my shoulders was so hard I thought he would snap my clavicles. His breathing was heavy and rushed as if he'd been running for miles.
I wanted to scream but every single word I wanted to say never made it past my lips, I just groaned in pain as the pressure of his hands became bigger. I tried to glance around, searching for an escape route but he crashed me violently against the wall once again. Why was no one here to see this?
And then I saw it, his hood had slipped back in the momentum and somehow I recognized this person. I had seen him before.
He was bald, his skin was pale, he had gray eyes just like me but his face, it was completely burned. He seemed emotionless, robotic even. His whispers suddenly got louder.
"I lost it, it's not the same anymore" he muttered between ragged breaths, he then looked at me with crazed eyes and laughed manically "You, you have it! I see it. But you are blind, blind!!!".
His fetid breath fanned in my face, I had to fight the urge to vomit. He flashed a cracked smile, he had barely any teeth there were only blackish-purple gums and few yellow choppers in his mouth.
He got closer, his lips pressed to my ear. "I've seen you sweetie, I know you, and I know what you are". He stood back, his eyes were crazed and empty, suddenly the contact of his hands on shoulders gained importance within myself.
A message, said a chorus of voices, but my eyes were glued on the man and he hadn't said a word. It was in my head, but they weren't whispering or screaming, they were almost conversing.
In time your camouflage will fade, a brash decision will be made. Trust only what you know and beware of the men in blue.
Everything in my head was quiet for a minute and then it all went into overdrive. Camouflage? Men in blue?
There was a dead silence, the man in front of me remained unmoving; his hands were still firmly pressed on my shoulders.
And then he spoke, "I should take yeh to the men, they said they could fix me", he voice was ragged and rushed, "but the land calls, it calls meh name missy and you do not let a calling down."
In a sudden move he pressed his forehead against mine. I could feel his hesitation, his fear. The way his hands trembled as he put it on the side on my neck showed uneasiness. I tensed, was he going to kill me? He looked me in the eyes and I couldn't look away, not because I was afraid, somehow I saw a different light in him, something good.
I felt a rush of wind on my face, "peace at last." I heard him say. I blinked and he was gone.
