I was running. Rushes of air filled my lungs. My whole body burned I thought I was on fire.
After that man left, something strange happened, blood began to fall down my nose. But that was not the strange part. I took out my pills out from my bag and grabbed one with trembling hands, the pill burned as it went down my throat but seconds later I found myself spiting blood onto the pavement.
I was choking, blood kept oozing out my nose and I every time I took a deep breath yet another splotch of scarlet escaped my lips. I broke into a run; there was a desperate urge inside of me to just flee. I found myself entering the woods.
I was afraid, but not like last time. The reason of my fear then seemed petty at that moment; somehow I knew I was dying.
Maybe this was the end of the line.
But I didn’t see my life flash in front of my eyes. There was only panic inside me. Black spots began to blur out my vision and my run slowed to a walk. I tripped over everything, but I didn’t fall, somehow I knew that if I did I wouldn’t have the strength to get back up.
My breathing became heavy and slow, this was the end. And somehow a part of me screamed: not yet! But the rest of me was ready to go down under. I stumbled over a tree root and when I tried to regain balance my knees buckled. I fell on the floor.
That was the brief moment of bliss that I didn’t recognize until later. I stared at the sky as I coughed up what was left in me. The sun was up high, there was a fog on the rise, and the way the shadows casted a dark scene made me think of it as a work of art. I took it all in and closed my eyes, allowing the darkness to consume me.
-
It felt like floating on a cloud, even though I had never done it before somehow I knew that was how it would feel like. The sun was shinning straight onto my eyes, all I could see was white flashes on my eyes. My mouth was dry; my whole body ached for water.
The edges of my vision began to blur one again and before the darkness took me under once again I heard a voice say:
“Were almost there”.
-
I woke up in pain. I was screaming as loud as my lungs would allow me, it felt like my whole body was on fire. There were flashes of light blinding me, for a moment I thought about the sun, but this was nothing like it. I was cold, there was no warmth in the air, I could feel chills seeping into my bones creating some sort of burning cold.
It like if fire coursed through my veins, yet my bones felt like if they were turning into ice. I had no idea of where I was. My back rested against a hard, flat surface my hands were bound down by my sides, as were my legs. I twisted, but to no avail the bindings were too strong. Although, I did not want to escape but somehow it felt like this feeling of overpowering could just leave if I pushed it out of me.
“Maybe this will ease the pain” I heard a voice say, followed by a stinging feeling in my arm.
A surge of fear came over me who was it? Where was I? How did I get here? Five seconds later I screamed even louder than before, like if every single bone in my body were breaking and then settling back into place. It was like fighting against your own instincts, like denying yourself to be yourself.
The lights overhead gave me an overwhelming feeling of blindness. I could feel tears trickle down on my face and then darkness came back, and at that moment I thought it was really the end.
