Mike and I arrived home just after half past 3. His excuse for being late to the car? He dropped his chocolate bar and he was overcome with sadness, therefore he had to mourn his deep loss. I mean, I understand his grief, but he could've chosen a better time than that.

Ugh, more evidence that we're clearly blood related.

"MUM! Tell Cee to stop pinching me." Mike whined as we walked through the front door.

"I'm not doing anything other than punishing you for not sticking to your word."

"Kids, come sit here please. Stop bloody bickering." Mum shook her head at our antics.

We obediently sat down in silence, waiting for mum to commence her grilling. I love her, but my god she loves to be dramatic sometimes.

"Ok, so there are two things," she held up two fingers as she looked between me and my brother, "That I have to talk to you about. One is bad and one is... I'm hoping good, but that depends on how you both feel." She started to pick at her nails and looking down.

"Mum, stop that. You know that noise bugs me." I grabbed her hand into my own. "And lets just start with the news that you're uncertain about first." I shrugged my shoulders and smiled at her.

"Ok, well, Greg and I are very happy and we want to take the next step in our relationship, but only if that is fine with the both of you." We nodded along as a gesture to keep going. "He would like to... move in." She dragged out slowly, trying to gauge our response.

"I mean, makes logical sense financially. No point having two properties when you can just share one. And, we both like Greg. He's a good guy. He is nice to you and he treats us as his own." I gave my blessing. I wasn't particularly bothered. It did make sense for him to move in and I honestly liked him.

"Yeah, I agree with her. He's worthy of this family." Mike shrugged and began eating some leftover cake on the table.

"Good! Phew! I was petrified you two would be upset."

"Good chat, mum. I'm gonna go play some games before dinner." Mike gets up to leave but I grab the back of his collar to sit him back down.

"Moron, she said there was two things to talk about. Can you not count?" I teased and he kicked me under the table and muttered Bitch under his breath

"There isn't an easy way to say this so I'm just going to rush it out as fast as humanly possible. Your father has contacted me as he is getting married and he would like to restart a relationship with the pair of you." She sat there looking at us both, waiting for some kind of reaction but Mike and I were stoic.

Well, we were for five seconds before all hell broke lose.

I stood up so fast that my chair toppled over from the force and Mike threw up that lovely chocolate cake he had just devoured. To be fair, he could've just been sick because he's a greedy shit, but the news of our father could also provoke that reaction.

"No! Hell to the fucking goddamn no! You want us to see him? After everything he did to you? After what he said to me?" I screeched at my mum, my anger not necessarily directed at her, more so the situation she presented us with.

"I agree with her. He is crazy psycho and doesn't deserve any form of happiness, let alone our forgiveness for being such a shit human and more importantly a useless father!" Mike agreed and ran to the kitchen to throw up some more.

"Look, I'm in no way telling you what you should and shouldn't do in regards of your father. And, I would not expose you to him if I believed he was a risk to you. But, he has turned his life around since then... Ultimately, it's your decision. I just wanted to give you both the chance that I never had. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that I kept you from your father if you had wanted to see him." Mum grabbed me by my shoulders and pulled me in for a hug.

My father has plagued my thoughts for years, but I don't think I could or want to see him. Time can't heal all wounds. And his betrayal and actions have caused a wound that would always reopen whenever it was nearly healed. But, I knew how much it would mean for my mum if I considered it.

"I'm not saying yes, I'm not saying no... I'm just saying not right now." I said into my mum's hair as she continued to hug me.

"Well, it's a hell fucking no from me." Mike announced as he came back into the room clutching his stomach.

"That's fair. As I said, it's your decision. However, don't think that I didn't notice how many times you've both sworn in the last few minutes. For that you both get two extra chores each this week." She smirked as she walked out of the room.

...

Mum left around an hour after her little bit of news for work. Mike was screaming at the TV downstairs, something about his "Asshole" friends who couldn't play to save their lives. And as usual, I was thinking about what food I was going to order for dinner tonight.

Pizza?

Chinese?

Thai?

Burgers?

Decisions, decisions. I contemplated asking Mike what he would prefer, but unfortunately for him, I'm not that nice. Chinese it is then. I placed the order then join Mike on the couch to stare at the screen in confusion. This was all too much for my small mind to comprehend.

My phone pinged beside me and I welcomed the much needed distraction.

Macy: Owen invited us to a party this weekend... You girlies in? xx

Nola: Only if Cee agrees. I know she hates parties as much as me.

Me: Ugh, fine, sure. Hate you both. Let's have some teenage overrated fun.

I noticed that Carlie never even bothered to respond to our messages even though she was online. I was a little tempted to just remove her from the chat completely, but her words from earlier haunt me. I wouldn't put it past her to blackmail me by using my dad.

We agree that since I live the nearest to Owen, as we found out due to Macy's internet stalking, we would come to mine after school to get ready and walk to his place seeing as it was only a five minute ish walk. That way we could all drink and have fun.

Cole's name flashed across the screen and I tried to squash down the rush of excitement I felt.

Cole: You're welcome xx

Me: For?

Cole: I told Owen to invite Macy.

Me: What has that got to do with me?

Cole: I did that knowing Macy would invite you. See ya at the party...

Me: Weirdo. You could have invited me yourself. And idiot, we will see each other at school before the party.

I heard the doorbell ring. Must be my food. I chucked my phone on the couch, ending the conversation with Cole and ran towards my food. I knew my priorities.
