My heart occasionally skipped beats as I walked with the girls towards Vince's office within the main communal tent area. I hadn't been on many missions, especially not official ones, and I was oddly excited to finally be able to go outside and do something for once. I knew it was sort of putting myself out into the danger zone, especially since we had just moved into the new camp and had barely had time for a 48 hour lock-down and quarantine period, in which we should be doing flare virus tests and checking for cranks, but I seem to be beside myself with excitement nevertheless.

Sonya was the first to enter the tent, her pale hand lifting the blue, fabric flap-door which separated us from Vince's office. We didn't hesitate to follow the young girl inside of the tent after she let us in from lifting up the fabric door, stumbling into Vince's office.

He greeted us with a polite smile after that, immediately getting into the situation at hand. "Penelope, it's lovely to see you've healed nicely, the same with Gally." I didn't want to get emotional at the mentioning of Gally, so I just nodded my head in response, a small smile playing at my lips while he let us sit down in the camping chairs he had just set up inside, greeting Sonya and Harriet.

"So, as you know, Sonya and Harriet are currently leading our TIP Right Arm Soldiers Associates squad." I had assumed the TIP part didn't stand anything, and that it just meant that we responded to anonymous tips and suspicions.

"And how is Penelope's training coming along? I've been awaiting a review degree." I zone back into the conversation at the mentioning of my name, glancing over to Vince absentmindedly. "I've completed my training period with the girls, I thi-"

Cutting me off, Vince continues. "Are you sure you're ready to be deployed? Gally was deployed early due to his exceptional strength and abilities." In all honesty, I wasn't sure whatsoever, but I knew it was what I wanted to do, and I was sick of being undermined by the men in my life. It had begun in the glade, when I would let Newt and Tommy boss me around, and it continued here where I was being underestimated.

"If you take me on in hand-to-hand combat, I assure you that you'll know whether I have what it takes or not within five minutes." I finally retort after a couple of seconds spent thinking.

Vince opens his mouth to say something, slightly surprised by my outburst, and I felt Harriet gently elbow me, as if she were trying to shut me up, and a small pink tinge spread across my cheeks and ears. I only knew this because I could feel the warmth of embarrassment from realising that I spoke without even thinking.
