"I can't find your silver lining - I don't mean to judge, but when you read your speech it's tiring. Enough is enough."

"Alright, I need you to give me everything you got." I took the walkie out of my medjack belt, "You hear me?" I tried my best to drown out Newt's groans and Thomas' pleading, I couldn't bare to listen to it.

"Brenda," The static crackled as I pressed different buttons on the walkie, aggressively trying to force it to work. "Brenda? What's your status?" There was only static, followed by silence. "Brenda what's your fucking status?"

"I have it-" There was shouting, gunfire, it was silent for a few moments and I felt eyes on me as the boys fell into silence. "I'm coming as fast as I can."

That was all the confirmation I needed. I slid the talkie back into my pocket and walked over to Thomas and Newt. "Tommy?" I called out, not wasting a minute. I didn't know how long we had left, how long Newt had left.

He nodded swiftly, standing up. "I'll come back for you guys." Thomas moved back quietly after speaking to Newt, and I made my way over to him.

"Hey." I spoke first, and he looked at me, dazed. "You're gonna be okay, okay?"

"Okay." I hesitated at first, but knew it was now or never, so I placed a kiss against his bloodied lips.

Making my way back over to Thomas, I stared him hard in the eyes and he just gulped in response. "You protect him with your life, you hear me? Whatever it takes, you fucking do it."

"I w-"

"Promise me."

"I promise." Thomas placed a hand on my shoulder, and I nodded.

"Be safe, please." His hand fell down, holding my own and interlocking our fingers. "I can't lose you."

I didn't say anything, but I held out a cure bottle, it was full of the blue liquid. "I need a blood sample." He didn't question me and nodded as I used a syringe, quick and effortless without a twinge of pain. I stored the blood in a separate bottle, sliding the two back into my belt.

"You sure you'll be able to use their equipment?"

"They're all evacuating, it'll take ten minutes inside, tops." Thomas embraced me for a couple of seconds, his hug was tight. Neither of us wanted to pull back first.

"I'll be back as fast as I can, stick to the tunnels and find the berg, Brenda has the cure, you'll make it, I promise. I'll be back just on time." I hope.

"I love you guys." I didn't look at them as I turned off, beginning to sprint backwards, through the modern no man's land of gunfire and blazing heat. It was dangerous and I could occasionally feel my adrenaline slipping, but I had to do this. For Newt. For Thomas, for all of them.
