Chapter 8: A Flawed Plan

"So you expect me to believe, that he never really wanted to hurt anyone. That his soulmate, who is you, was being threatened, and because he feared for your safety, even though you'd never met, he did what they told him?" Fury had a flat expression on his face. He had listened to our explanation in silence. The others didn't seem to believe it either. Natasha and Bruce more so because I had to explain why I was hiding the bond earlier.

The only person relatively happy with the whole situation was Thor. His brother didn't hate him after all. Kinda.

"Believe what you want. Just know that if you choose to imprison him, I will leave and you will not be able to find me." I gave him a hard look.

Fury gave a sigh that seemed soul-deep. He looked up as if asking 'Why me?'.

"Fine. But if he's changing to our side, he needs to tell us everything he knows. Plus, he needs to return Barton and Selvig."

I looked to where Loki was sitting next to me at the table. His eyes wandered around the room, fascinated by the various monitors and technology in the room. His head didn't focus back until I tapped his hand that was still held in mine. "Breaking the mind control will be relatively easy. The problem is when they get here." Although he had seemed hard and emotionless at first, it seemed he would be the clingy type.

Tony spoke up from the other side of the table. He'd had a scowl on his face the whole time. "What do mean,' When they get here'? I know you got caught on purpose, what was the next phase of your plan?"

Loki scowled down at the table. "I was to see how much you knew then anger Dr. Banner enough to lure out the large green one. Then Agent Barton would attack the ship with the Chitori and I would escape again with the staff. It was to be an attempt to break you apart from the inside."

We sat in deep thought for a moment. "I have a better idea. We go through with your plan but you take me with you." My mates all started to argue. "Listen," I nearly shout. "If we do it this way I can keep an eye on him and get Agent Barton and Dr. Selvig back. I know he won't be with the attack. Once I get him free, I'll send you our location and we can shut it all down before the entire army gets here. It is the only option I'm willing to take."

Steve speaks first, "Absolutely not. What if they figure you out, what if you can't signal us, I can think of a million things that can go wrong with that plan."

"I agree with the Capsicle, there isn't enough evidence that you'll be safe. I think the others will agree when I say that we don't want you out of our sight. We just got you, we don't want to lose you."

His words made my heart melt. And you thought they would reject you. Circe's voice was smug in my head. I mentally rolled my eyes at her. "You didn't let me finish. I can leave a sure-fire way that you guys will know I'm okay"

"And that would be?"

"I'll leave Circe."

"WHAT?!!?"

YEAH, WHAT?!??

I rolled my eyes. "I can communicate telepathically with her instantaneously if I leave her behind, you'll know immediately if something's wrong."

"But won't that make you weaker?" Nat asked

I nodded, "Yes, but when you think about it, it'll be suspicious if she's there."

I could see them beginning to see understand there was no other choice.

"I know you don't trust Loki because until half an hour ago he was your enemy, but I do, so at least trust me. As a person and as your soulmate." Their shoulders all sagged in defeat.

"Fine."

"Good. Loki, how long until the Chitori get here?"

His eyes glazed over for a second, "Approximately, 6 minutes. I need to be in whatever spot you were planning on holding me in."

"That gives us 6 minutes to think of a better plan," Steve said.

"Or 6 minutes to talk you out of it," Tony jabbed.

I shook my head, "Not going to happen."

"Five minutes now."

"Darling, I love you, but be quiet. You're not helping."
