We managed to get Loki into the containment cell with 2 minutes to spare. I stood nearby, pretending to interrogate him, so when the Chitori attacked, it'd seem like the logical thing to grab me. To make it seem more realistic, I was asking him questions.
"Favorite color?" I asked as I paced directly in front of his containment cell.
"Green, of course. Yours?" He sat crossed-legged on the floor in front of me. He was relatively calm for someone who was about to give himself up to the enemy.
"Purple, obviously." I gestured to my clothes. My finger picks at my lip nervously. Another question popped up in my head, "Will Agent Barton be a part of the attack team?"
Loki nodded, "He is one of the more experienced ones under the staff's control; it would seem suspicious if he weren't."
I bobbed my head in understanding. Knowing who some of my other soulmates were, gave me a sneaking suspicion about one Clint Barton.
A loud explosion went off on one side of the ship, rocking the whole thing. I wobbled unsteadily before righting myself, "I guess they're here."
"I guess so." Loki's voice was tense. His head abruptly shot up, "Quickly, love. Act surprised. The Chitori general is coming."
I instantly covered my face in a mask of shock. I whipped my head around, pretending to look for backup and using that as a cover to take a look around for the general.
A strange chattering I couldn't quite understand sounded behind my left shoulder. I whipped around to see a grotesque creature walk around the sidewall, pointing some sort of laser gun at me.
"Gods above, you are fugly!" The words slipped from my mouth without thought. Loki gave a deep sigh from behind me. "What? You can't tell me you didn't think the same thing?"
The General couldn't make much of a facial expression, but from the little bit I could tell, he understood I insulted him. He aimed the giant gun at me and pulled the trigger.
Light flew at me as I jumped to the side. The blast had blown a hole in the chamber with Loki inside. He crawled out of the void and gave a smug smile. I almost believed it.
"Well, as lovely as the capturing me thing as been, I must be on my way." He was putting up a show of trying to get away for the General's sake.
Meaning I had to play my part.
"Oh no, you don't." I got up unsteadily. Loki's mask didn't slip outwardly, but I could feel worry flash briefly in our bond.
Mist gathered in my hands. It was more of a showing-off thing. I threw pure magic at him in the form of lightning. He redirected it over his shoulder, causing an explosion.
"Really, witchling? Using magic against a Master Sorcerer. Bad idea." He held up a hand of his own. A knife appeared in it, and he threw it at me, making an obvious show of its trajectory so I could dodge it.
I fell on my back to avoid the sharp blade. Not quite expecting it, the wind was knocked out of me. The General ordered Loki to do something while I struggled to get air in my lungs again.
He approached my left side and lifted his foot.
I'm sorry, Love. His voice whispered at the very back of my mind.
Then he brought his boot down on my face knocking me out for the second time in 24 hours.
