Varina's POV

"Varina, you must come home, I can come and get you, your father is not well."

As Marcus spoke I couldn't hold my tears in long enough for Din not to see them.

"what's wrong Car'ika?"

"is that Din?" Marcus spoke and Din took control of the transmission.

"yes it's me, what's going on."

"Varina needs to get back to Orania, it's urgent. I can come and get her myself but her father is sick. he's dying." Din's posture tensed.

" We are on Trask. That's not far from your location. We will wait until you arrive."

"Din wait." he ignored me as he finished talking with Marcus. once he did, he took me in his arms.

"why didn't you let me talk."

"because you need to go, it's your father Rina."

"I know but Bo katan told you about Ashoka Tano, If I leave now, I won't see the child again."

"Varina, you don't know that. maybe I don't find her, then we have to start back on square one. your father may not have a lot of time left and I know you. you would hate yourself for not spending his last moments at his side. After all of this, I'll come home I promise. weather I find the Jedi or not. "

I cried as Din massaged my back.

"when is Marcus coming?"

" he said he was close."

"let me say good bye to him."

Din nodded as I went over to the child. he frowned at me when he noticed I was crying.

"hey buddy, I need to go home to see my father. he's sick, but Din is going to take care of you okay. I love you so much."

The child put a hand on my face and leaned into my chest. He didn't want me to leave. I put him down and kissed his head before making my way to din out on the dock.

" what am I going to do with out you."

"we will be fine, remember, we are one together and one when apart. "

I remembered our vows. It seemed like a lifetime ago that we were on my balcony making our eternal promise to each other.

"it's been a year since we got married."

Din looked at me reaching out to touch my pendent.

"has it really?

" yeah, time flies when your in love." I tried to smile at him but I started to cry instead. Din wrapped me in his strong arms.

" It will be alright Ner ka'ta . we won't be apart for long. I promise."

"I just don't remember what it's like to be without you. I haven't fallen asleep by myself in so long."

" I know car'ika, I will miss you more than I could say. you know I'm not that great with words."

"you've gotten better." I teased.

"I will always be with you. no matter how far away I am or how long I am gone. you have my heart."

"And you have mine."

I wanted to kiss him in that moment but we were out in the open, someone could see. but Din had other ideas.

"Din, wait, people can see."

He looked around.

"no one is here, I just wanted to kiss you one more time."

He lifted his helmet off and kissed me, the metal creating a loud thud on the ground. My tears wiped away by Dins gloved hands. I wanted to be engulfed in flames in that moment. not wanting to let him go, but the Oranian ship coming from the distance stopped us. Din sighed as he reached down and picked up his helmet. he looked at it for a few moments before looking at me and kissing my forehead one more time before he put it on again. My heart started to panic.

" I can't leave you."

"Varina, everything will be alright. I love you so much."

"I love you more."

"You know that's impossible."

Din hugged me again before Marcus came to us. I was not going to lie when I said seeing Marcus was acknowledging my homesickness. I hugged him with all I had.

"I have missed you My Queen."

"I missed you too Marcus. My father?"

"he is not well, he had told me not to tell you but I couldn't stand the thought of you finding out any other way."

My father was always stubborn.

" well all of the men in my life are stubborn like stone, or Beskar." I looked at Din as he looked down at his boots.

"we should hurry. I will call a crew to get your things."

"that's alright Marcus. besides, Din will return home soon."

I smiled at Din as he nodded.

"that's the idea."

"well where is the child, I would want to say goodbye if you are close to completing your quest."

"he's inside."

Marcus went to say goodbye to the kid. but Din grabbed my wrist.

"wait your drawing pad and your paintings. you don't want to take them with you."

"it's okay Din. keep them as a memory of me. if you ever get lonely or sad you can always look at my drawings."

" I will."

we all said our final goodbyes as I boarded marcus's ship. The last thing I saw behind my tears was Din with our child waving us off in front of our beloved Razor Crest.
