Nine minutes after releasing Kuragari, you and Megumi took shelter somewhere a little father away from the mayhem. The explosions grew in both volume and magnitude, so much so that you could smell the smoke. 56. 57. 58. 59. 60. Only one more minute. You stayed crouched by Megumi's side, keeping yourself dead silent.

"Oi, what are you going to do about this?" He asked you. You just hummed non-committedly. "Oi, Y/n-senpai."

"Shhhh I'm counting," you said quickly.

"Huh? Counting for what?"
46. 45. 44. 43. 42. 41.

"What the heck are you up to?"
You just waved your hand in his face, silently telling him to shut the fuck up. 38. 37. 36. 36. 34.

"Oi, if you're going to do something about that, then do it sooner than later."

"Yeah, why do you think I'm counting, dipshit." 29. 28. 27. 26. 25. 24. 23. Come on, come on. 21. 20. 19. 18. There was a strong explosion from up in the air, rocketing shockwaves through the sky. Some of the prison wasn't spared--and broke apart at the sheer strength. You had to hold Megumi even tighter to keep him from blowing away. 13. 12. 11. 10. 9. 8. You heard echoing laughter from from Kuragari before seeing her jump up into the air, dark hair free flowing behind her. 5. 4. 3. 2. Right before Kuragari could send another strike of cursed energy, a chain appeared around her neck. Covered in yellow cursed energy, the chain was bound to around your wrist. With a yank, the chain began to recede. Kuragari went with it, yelling out. Before she could collide into you, her body disappeared in black mist.

"What... the hell just happened?" Megumi asked, staring up at your back in shock.

"Don't worry about it," you replied, backing up a step. "Just be prepared."

"For what?"
When you blinked, Sukuna appeared in front of you, hands in his pockets.

"You took away Kuragari," he said, his expression flat.

"Her ten minutes were up," you replied, keeping your body in front of Megumi.

"Ah, yes. That's your Binding Vow." Sukuna stopped a few feet in front of you. You could feel Megumi's fear from behind you.

"How do you know about that?" You asked.

"Kuragari told me. We tell each other everything, you know." Sukuna grinned at you, full of tease.

"Oh yes, I'm sure you do each other's nails at sleepovers too." You scowled. Sukuna's eyes moved over to Megumi behind you, but you blocked his vision.

"Protective, aren't we?"

"Only when threats are present." Your cursed energy surrounded your body, black and red swirling around you. Sukuna grinned.

"Interesting." He took a few steps towards you, but you didn't back up or shirk away. Standing your ground, you prepared for any sudden moves. Then, the look in Sukuna's eyes changed. You heard Megumi gasp in surprise behind you. You let your cursed energy die down, and you relaxed.

"You switched a little late, dumbass," you said.

"Oh... sorry," Itadori replied, rubbing the back of his head. The markings slowly went away. "I guess some things don't work out the way you planned." More blood splashed onto the pavement below him.

"Oh, sorry... I'm almost done for," he acknowledged, "Guess I won't have to worry about you, Kugisaki, Megumi, or Gojo-sensei." Slowly, he began to fall forward.

"Live a long life." He fell face-first to the ground, mere inches from your feet. You heard Megumi grit his teeth behind you. The rain, now coming down harder, washed the blood away from Itadori's body and to the drains.

"... well this is gonna be hard to explain to the higher ups..."

~
You let out a sigh from the corner of the morgue room. Itadori's body was placed on a metal slab, a white sheet covering his body.

"If you encounter it, your choices are to either run or die," Ijichi said, standing in front of you and Satoru. "I warned them that fighting was absolutely not an option."

"It was intentional," Satoru replied.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Ijichi asked.

"There was a special grade," Satoru replied, "Sending first years to rescue five who may or may not be alive should be out of the question."

"Yeah, it really should've been," you commented from the corner. Crossing your arms, you huffed. "Now you have one dead and one traumatized."

"Besides, with Yuji, I was the one who forced the issue and got his execution indefinitely suspended," Satoru explained. "Some higher-ups who didn't like that took advantage of my absence and the special grade to tactfully dispose of him."

"Y/n L/n."
A man appeared in the doorway, wearing a crisp suit and dark glasses.

"What?" You asked, brows furrowing.

"We would like a word."

"Who is 'we', and for what?"

"For allowing Kuragari Kanzaki out."
You glanced at Satoru, but he just shrugged lightly.

"How do you know about that?" You asked.

"Please just come with me."

~
You marched over to the steps from where Kugisaki and Megumi were sat. He saw you first.

"Y/n-senpai," he greeted. "What's going on--" Without warning, or much anticipation, you grabbed him by his collar and slammed him into the staircase.

"H-hey!" Nobara exclaimed.

"You told them I released Kuragari?" You growled. You slammed your one foot into the step next to his head, effectively caging him under you.

"What-what was I supposed to do?"

"I expect you to have a brain and realize that someone releasing a three-thousand year old curse to rampage with another thousand year old curse, would have some drawbacks."

"Wh-what happened?" He staggered out. You scowled at him, letting him go, and backing up. You held up your arm and let your sleeve pull down a little. Attached to your wrist was a metal bangle, embedded into your wrist. A small screen reflected the sun off its plastic face.

"What is that?" Nobara asked.

"It's a monitor," you replied, your tone sharp. "It's meant to track and detect Kuragari's cursed energy. If it detects even an ounce of it, several first grade sorcerers will be dispatched."

"Are you serious?" Nobara asked.

"I am. No thanks to him."

"You never said to not tell anyone."

"I would've thought you'd use your brain. You know the higher ups were after Itadori for Sukuna--what made you think I was different?"

"You just seem to be respected," Megumi replied, "You seem to blend in well with Jujutsu Tech."

"Please," you scoffed, crossing your arms. The bangle made it uncomfortable. "No one respects me. Not the second years or third years."

"But every time they stepped up to you, they backed off."

"Fear and genuine respect are not the same." You let out a sigh and closed your eyes for a moment. "It was bad enough when I first joined. You just made it worse."

"Sorry..." Megumi replied, his head hanging. You glanced at him. Man... maybe I should cut him some slack. There were footsteps behind you and you turned.

"What's this?" An assertive voice called out. "You're looking more glum than usual, Megumi. This a wake or something?"

"Zenin-senpai..." Megumi greeted back.

"Don't call me by my last name!" Maki ordered.

"Maki," you greeted. She glanced at you.

"L/n."
