"They're gone, Y/n." Asuka couldn't bring herself to look at you. You blinked at her, unable to move.

"What do you mean they're gone?" You asked back.

"The sorcerers. They found your family. I couldn't stop them..."
Your heart jumped into your throat at the sight of Asuka's glassy eyes.

"What did they do?" You asked gently.

"They're dead. All of them."
You blinked, now painfully aware. The lack of familiar cursed energy punched you in the gut.

"How...? They have the Inherited Technique. They could negate anything, how could they lose?!" Your energy flared, and the couch behind you combusting into dark flames. Asuka flinched back, a tear quickly gliding down her cheek. You turned your gaze away to the wall. "We were supposed to be the strongest..."

"You need to seal it."

"... seal what?"

"Cancellation Edge."

You trudged along the Tokyo Jujutsu High grounds, hoping to find the second years. You found them near a rest area.

"Megumi, Nobara," you called out, waving at them. The two turned their heads at you.

"There you are, where've you been?" She asked. You stopped in front of them and shrugged.

"Eh, places, you know, the usual." You shoved your hands in your pockets. "How's the training with the second years been going?"

"It's been fine," Nobara replied. "Man, those second years can be brutal..."

"What do you expect?" Megumi asked, "Jujutsu isn't something to take lightly."

"Oh my, what do we have here?"
All three of you turned your heads to see Todo and Mai standing there. Oh great.

"What are you doing here, Zenin-senpai?" Megumi asked.

"Oh, she's one too?" Nobara asked.

"Unfortunately," you replied.

"They do seem similar. Are they sisters?"

"Twins."

"Don't call me that, Fushiguro-kun," Mai replied. "You make me sound the same as Maki. Call me Mai."

"Ah, sibling angst." You smirked widely. She looked at you, her pleasant expression dropping immediately.

"Y/n." Her tone was venomous.

"It's 'senpai' to you, but you're not that quick, so I'll let it slide," you replied.

"I heard you got the lip from the higher ups about letting that monster out," she said, that same smirk coming back up to her face. "I can't imagine what it's like being monitored 24/7."

"Keep pushing your luck, and you'll be wishing it was Kuragari who you were fighting."
Mai just huffed.

"So these are the pinch hitters for Okkotsu and the third-years?" Todo asked, glaring at Megumi and Nobara.

"We came here with the principal because we were worried about you," Mai explained. "Your classmate died, right? Was that rough? Or did you think nothing of it?" The two tensed up besides you.

"You're about to join him if you keep it up," you said, stepping in front of them.

"It's okay," she said gently. Your brow twitched. "Some things are hard to say out loud. So I'll say it for you. 'Vessel' makes it sound nice, but it just means he was a half-curse monster. Having such a tainted, inhuman being beside you, brazenly calling himself a jujutsu sorcerer must have been revolting, right? Aren't you feeling better now that he's dead?"

"Hm," you hummed, "Interesting point." You glanced at the bangle on your wrist.

"Reminds me a lot of someone." You reached into the pocket on your back. "Unfortunately for you, that someone is alive to defend themself." You pulled out a rod which extended out two meters. Electricity crackled around the metal. Mai narrowed her eyes and so did Todo.

"Now, now." Todo quickly stepped in front of Mai. "Mai, we're not here to get into a fight with Kuragari Kanzaki's vessel."

"I'm only here to see if these guys are fit to take Okkotsu's place." He took a few steps forward, but you didn't sway from your defensive position. He threw away his jacket. "That's all I want to know."

"Fushiguro, was it? What kind of woman is your type?!"
... Your eye twitched.

"Depending on your answer, I'll beat you half to death right here and drag Okkotsu, or at least the third years, out of the exchange event." Todo ripped his shirt off. "By the way, my type is a tall woman with a big ass!" You rolled your eyes. Idiot.

"Why do I have to talk about my taste in women with a guy I just met?" Megumi asked.

"He's right," Nobara spoke up. "That's a tall hurdle for an antisocial guy."

"You be quiet..." Megumi twitched. "This is confusing enough already. You'll just make it more complicated."

"Kyoto, third year, Todo Aoi," Todo introduced. "Introduction over. Now we're friends. Hurry up and answer. If you prefer men, that's fine too."

"We stan an ally," you said with a smirk.

"A person's fetishes reflect everything about them. People with boring taste in women are boring themselves. And I hate boring men. The exchange event is where my soul can be free as blood boils and flesh clases. Who knows what I might do if my last exchange event ends up boring me?"

"Hey, aren't the Jujutsu High schools four-year schools?" Nobara asked quietly.

"Fourth years can't join the exchange event," you replied. "This is my last event as well."

"Huh..."

"As a show of kindness, I'll let you off only half-dead right now," Todo said, "Answer me, Fushiguro. What kind of woman is your type?"

"Is this some kind of comedy routine?"

"Is that your summer uniform?" Nobara asked, looking at Mai. "Ticks me off, but it's nice." You eyed the two. Both of them look ready to fight at the drop of a hat.

"I don't have a particular preference," Megumi replied. "As long as she has unshakable character, I won't ask for more."

"Not a bad answer," Nobara replied. "If you had said something like 'big boobs' I'd have killed you."

"Shut up."
Your stance deepened when a tear slid down Todo's cheek.

"I knew it," Todo said quietly. "You're boring, Fushiguro." Without much hesitation, he launched forward. Megumi looked on in shock as you slid in front of him, and stopped Todo's attack. The electricity tased Todo's arm, shocking him for a second. You swung the rod around your arm and hit it under Todo's chin. He took a step back, and you put distance between yourselves.

There was a rustle of metal behind you. When you turned, Mai's gun was aimed right at your head. You retracted your rod and turned your wrist before releasing it. The end of the rod stabbed right into Mai's midsection. She let out a staggering gasp. You grabbed her gun, but felt a slight wave of air to your left. Todo came behind you. When his arm came in contact with your body, instead of sending you flying, nothing happened. You and him connected eyes.

"Terror Drain."
