*Time Skip, Was April 6th. Now May 15th*
1 month, and 09 days till BTS debut
I found myself comfortably seated, a spectator to the dazzling lights and electrifying sounds of our completed music video. It was an assemblage of artistry, a crescendo of grunge, and a showcase of raw rap prowess intertwined with vocal virtuosity. Months of relentless training, nights devoid of sleep, moments of collapsing from sheer exhaustion, and critiques that could carve one's soul had led us to this defining juncture. Our music video was accomplished, our album was ready, and our debut loomed tantalizingly close, barely a month away.
Around me, my comrades and I occupied the meeting room, enveloped by a palpable sense of triumph. The PD-nim himself presided over the meeting, our music video dominating the projection screen. The room was hushed, the entire team intent on analyzing our creation, their expressions akin to scholars poring over intricate manuscripts. Meanwhile, my fellow members and I couldn't contain our energy. We exchanged subtle congratulatory gestures under the table, our hearts brimming with pride as our faces flickered across the screen. The music – Yoongi's, Hoseok's, and Namjoon's collaborative masterpiece – resonated with potency, a testament to their unparalleled skill.
As the music video gradually dimmed into silence, my skin erupted in goosebumps, a testament to its visceral impact. A staff member deftly switched off the projector, momentarily flooding the room with stark light that temporarily blinded me. PD-nim's words, a cascade of commendation, broke the silence. "That was exceptional, my young artists. I hold nothing but high expectations for your debut." His smile radiated warmth, his approval a tonic to our souls. A modest celebration ensued, only to be interrupted by another staff member, steering the conversation toward the mechanics of our social media presence. Time skews by quickly and my head begins to feel funny, boggled, and empty. I can't make heads or tails of it.
"So, that's everything today! If you guys could go down to fashion and we have to do some readjustments to some of your outfits and wardrobe would like for you to try on some new outfits for performing. Besides that, that's everything for today. Enjoy your Tuesday, tomorrow is another vocal training and staging choreography practice. Have a good one BTS" PD-Nim said before closing his large leather notecase with a big thunk, Everyone stood and bowed to him as he left, his personal assistant very close behind him, her always seeming so stressed and unkempt compared to the man she desperately tried to follow.
Soon after, all the staff members started chattering and congratulating me and the boys, a lot coming up to give us kind hugs and handshakes, most of them being with us since day one, happy for our progress and debut. Jimin laughed in excitement as one of his favorite managers swept him up in a brotherly hug. The boys all gave their thanks and had small talks with staff members who had supported them a lot, meanwhile, I stayed to myself still trying to be polite and sweet to the staff who came up to me but in the back of my head I was letting myself getting consumed in nerves, was I truly ready and worthy of this debut? After everything I had gone through this year, I was so caught up in myself and I wondered if I was more worthy than the hundreds of other trainees in the company still working hard for placement and debuting.
Not even a few months ago, I was still struggling to keep my own emotions out of my career and well well-being of the group. It was odd to see myself being a place to debut beside people so much more talented and well-put-together than me.
Just then I felt a large hand pats the back of my shoulder, shoving me lightly to follow behind the boys who I did not even notice started to leave alongside other staff. I jumped a bit as I looked up to see Hobeom, his face full of a happy glow and smile as he chatted to me about the delight of our debut but to me, his words seemed muffled and hard to hear.
