About 4 and ½ hours later, Damon and I were laying in bed. My head was on his bare chest. We were just talking. We had been talking for about 10 minutes now. Then, I heard a chime.
I looked over and it was my phone. I opened it and saw a text from Jack. It said that they were on their way. "Jack said they're coming," I said and hopped out of bed; walking to the bathroom.
About 25 minutes later, I had been showered and in some nice clothes. I was sitting on the couch writing a part of my memoir. There was a knock at the door and I stood up from the couch. I answered the door and Jethro and Jack were both standing before me. "Hey Dad. Mom. How are you guys?," I asked them both; moving out of the way so that they could come in.
"We are doing great. How are you, Christy?," Jethro asked me, sitting on the couch next to Jack. I shut the door and sit next to them. "I'm good, Dad. Damon's in the kitchen finishing up dinner. Hey babe? How much longer?," I yelled into the kitchen at him.
"You asked me that 5 minutes ago?!," Damon yells back. "Well. I'm hungry," I reply. We all chuckle. "Okay! Dinner's ready!," Damon says, about 5 minutes later. He was in the dining room, setting the plates on the table.
We all were sitting down at the table. We were bonding. Damon's food was awesome, if I do say so myself. Suddenly, Jethro grabbed his chest and started grunting. He fell out of his chair.
I jumped up from my chair; kicking it over in the process, but I didn't care right now. I ran over to Jethro and knelt down next to him. "What hurts?," I ask him. "M-my chest. A-a-a stabbing pain. I-I-I can't breathe," He said; between grunts and screams.
I googled the symptoms and they were signs of cardiac arrest. Then Jethro went quiet. I checked his pulse but there was nothing. "Call 911!," I yell and start giving him compressions. Jack had now gotten on the floor next to him and held his hand.
"Come on, Dad. You've come too far to go now. I need you. Jack needs you. I can't live without you," I say, pleading to Jethro's unconscious body.
