Bullies

I step onto the mat Clint is standing on. Nat steps in too and explains, "The three of us will spar ok? The rules are simple if you get knocked out of the ring, or if you're pinned for five seconds you're out. The person in the longest wins. After each round I'll give you pointers and teach you how to fight properly. Sound good?" I nod. "Okay ready everyone? Three, two, one, GO!" Clint immediately goes for Nat making him an easy target. I kick him, making sure not to hit any point that would cause lasting damage. He almost falls out of the ring but catches himself.

My spidey senses tingle and I jump avoiding Nats kick. When I jumped I spun and kicked her in the side but she blocked it and pushed my leg. I land and immediately squat down because Clint had charged forward to tackle me. I flip him over my shoulder. He stands up and Nat grabs him and brings him back to the floor. He worms his way out and strikes the back of her knee.

Our sparring session goes on with about the same results. There are many close calls but everyone manages to stay in for another ten minutes or so. Then Clint is nocked out of the ring and the fight is just between Nat and I.

I think we ended up sparring for another twenty minutes before anything more exciting happened. Nat yells in disbelief, "How are you this good?! I'm starting to actually get tired!" I panic a bit. "I don't know. But it's fun to spar with you." She flips herself over me and grabs my neck. I toss her off and to the ground pinning her. She tries to struggle out but I grab her arm and twist it, then grab her leg to make her imobile. Clint start counting. "4, 5! Peter wins! Wow I really thought this was going to last forever." I laugh and offer my hand to Nat. We stand up and she smiles at me. "Now time to teach you the basics! Many times during our spar, if you had the knowledge to do it, you could've taken me down. I have no doubt that you're already a very strong fighter but this will help you improve greatly."

We go through the basics step by step, with Clint being the dummy of course. After a few hours of training Tec starts whining at me. "What's up baby?" I head over to him and pet him. "I should go now anyway. Thank you so much Nat! And you too Clint! I hope we can do it again sometime." I walk out of the gym with Tec and we head out so he can go to the bathroom. I run him around for a little bit to get his energy out.

"Starkson!" The booming voice behind me says. I turn to see Thor smiling at me, he has a pop tart in his hand. I smile and wave at him. "Hello." He walks off happily. I throw Tecs toy and he fetches it and brings it back. "Good boy." He goes to give me the toy but doesn't let go. "Oh you want to play tug of war!" I laugh. Tec happily tugs on the toy. Then I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket.

I'm being called? I pull my phone out and answer. "Hello?" I can hear a sniffle on the other end. "Peter!" A distressed voice sobs into the phone. Kody! "Hey, hey, it's okay I'm here. What's wrong Kody?" He sobs for a few moments. "I thought, *Hic* I thought I could be str- strong and brave like you. But I can't!" He wails into the phone. "Okay I'll be right there. Stay on the phone okay?" He sniffles. "Okay." I grab Tec and his leash. "Hold on a moment Kody." I look up at the ceiling. "JARVIS tell Tony I'll be out for a bit and that I'll call him later." JARVIS responds seconds later. "Where are you going Peter?" I head to the elevator. "I'm going to the orphanage."

I rush out of the building and make my way to the orphanage as quickly as I can. "Kody can you hear me?" I hear a quiet yes on the other side of the line. "Can you tell me if you're hurt anywhere?" He mumbles something softly that a normal person wouldn't have been able to hear but my superhuman hearing catches it perfectly. "Only a little." My blood boils. I have to stay calm. "I'm almost there okay? Are you in your room?" I take the quickest root I know, that doesn't involve swinging from building to building. "Yeah. We all are- in our rooms I mean."

He doesn't sound as distressed anymore. That's good it means I managed to calm him a little. "Okay. I'm going to hang up now. I'll be there shortly." Once I get a quiet okay I hang up the phone and stuff it in my pocket. I hold Tec tighter. I'm sorry guys I wish I was still there for you. I approach the building. I don't dare go through the front door. That will alert Barwick and I don't need a fight right now because I know I won't be able to control myself. Kody's room is on the left side of the building.
