I applied lipstick in the mirror. I hadn't worn lipstick in ages, but I figured this was a good occasion to do something different. I had avoided it, but with the aid of a few fillers and Botox recently, I was feeling good about it.

I'd pulled on a simple black cocktail dress, thigh high black stockings, and a pair of black stilettos. My hair was dried and I had added some waves with my straightener. I applied a full face of makeup, and topped it all off with the lipstick. I had read somewhere that the best lipstick was the same color as your nipples. So, nipple colored lipstick—SPICE—was donned and I was ready to go.

I clean up okay.

"You look great," I heard Henry say over my shoulder. He was smiling at me in the mirror, wearing my son's Batman T-shirt and Puma joggers. I smiled widely at the sight of him in my son's clothes. Everything was a bit snug on him.

"Thank you," I winked at him, "you look great yourself."

"I didn't find any Superman shirts in his closet," he said, tugging on his shirt, an exaggerated pout on his lips.

"Well, I hate to break it to you, but we're kind of a Batman house," I shrugged.

He looked hurt. "Really?" he asked.

I walked past him into the hallway where my family's pictures were displayed across the walls. There were a few Halloween pictures with my son's various Batman costumes through the years. Henry followed me and shook his head in disappointment.

"Here I thought this was fate," he grumbled.

I smacked him on the butt, as I made my way back to my bathroom mirror. He followed me, wrapping his arms around me, resting his hands on my stomach. He kissed my neck and shoulder, and I immediately let out an involuntary moan.

"You're going to get me going again," I warned him. I noticed light bruising on my neck that must have been the result of our evening. "We'll never leave the house."

He wrapped his arms around me tighter, "I just want to hear that sound you made again."

"What sound?"

He kissed my neck, hard, and I moaned loudly, "that's the sound," he replied.

I laughed and playfully broke away from him. I sprayed perfume on my wrists and neck.

"Ooh...what is that scent?" Henry asked, reaching for the bottle.

"My friend is a perfumer. It's something she made for me," I told him, handing the bottle with my name written across it in vinyl letters

"It's fantastic. This is the same scent from last night," he said excitedly as he sniffed the bottle.

"Are you ready?" I asked him. He put the bottle down and nodded at me.

"You look beautiful," he told me, staring into my eyes. My knees weakened. He held my face in his hands and gave me a quick kiss on the lips, to avoid smudging my lipstick.

"Thank you," I replied. I felt like the most beautiful woman on earth right then.

We hopped into the Mini Cooper, and drove towards downtown Chicago. He was staying at the Peninsula Hotel.

"I'm warning you, I enjoy driving," I told him. I pulled my car into Sunday evening traffic and headed to the highway.
