WATCHING the running figure of that person, I snapped back to my senses. I hurriedly pulled myself up, but I immediately wobbled. My injured leg was not yet fully healed. It was already taking its toll from my actions earlier.
Gritting my teeth, I moved to pick up my guns that flew from my grasp when that person tackled me.
"Damn it!"
The pain was becoming more intense as seconds ticked by. 'Wag ngayon. 'Di pwedeng ngayon.
I took off running in the same alley where the man with the briefcase and that person headed. Halos tatlong metro ang taas no'n. My eyes squinted on the junks left near the wall. I quickly found solid footing. Without stopping from my sprint, I inserted both of my guns in my skirt's waist band. I used the broken television as the step of one of my foot and jumped. My other foot used the side of an old refrigerator to send my body higher. It smashed on the ground with a loud crash because of the strength of my kick. I held onto the top of the wall, and with ease because of my trainings, I was able to pull myself up. With the momentum, I swung both of my legs to the other side. My body almost flew mid-air with my movement if I wasn't still holding on the wall. I let go from the wall and landed on the ground. Napasigaw pa 'yong dalawang babaeng naglalakad no'ng bigla akong sumulpot. They were too stunned and froze on where they were standing.
I took out my guns again.
"May hawak siyang baril!"
"Help!"
My brows met.
Idiots.
Damn. I needed to move before the police get here. I used my hair to cover my face as a caution. I was sure that they'd take pictures or videos of me.
I paused and thought hard where they could have run off to when I heard shots rang out in the air. Mabilis akong napalingon sa direksyong pinanggalingan no'n.
Napangisi ako. "Bingo."
I blasted off to the right side of the street where the fires came from. I only had to follow where the people where running from. Hanggang sa mapunta ako sa highway. Cars crashed and horns blared. And there, two figures were sliding and jumping on the hoods of cars. They were exchanging fires, and the scared civilians opted to stay inside their cars to avoid getting hit.
Without taking my eyes off of them, I darted to the chaotic highway.
I needed to get it from him and get away from here.
I screamed in pain when my still injured leg took the weight of my fall. I fell on one of my knees.
No time for weakness. I willed myself to ignore the pain and got up to continue running before I lost sight of them again.
