POV Kuroo

I brushed his hair off his face. He crawled up in a ball laying on the bed. After all the crying his eyes were puffed, no energy was left. He was sleeping heavily.
With both hands I grabbed the ends of the blanket and covered his shoulders. As I turned around my eyes met Bokuto.
He looked down to him. I waved my hand in his face.
„You're supposed to stay at Akaashi's." I whispered and stood up from the bed. Bokuto lifted one eyebrow.
„So this is the way you thank me for picking you two up and driving you here? Kicking me out of my own room?"
I slapped against his chest.
„I can't leave him alone, I need to sleep on your bed."
Bokuto's lips formed a big grin, the bushy brows rose. „We can cuddle." He whispered.
My eyes rolled and I threw my head back into my neck. „Go cuddle with your boyfriend." I said and pushed him towards the door.

My eyes were wide open, pinned on the ceiling. As I closed them, the pictures appeared again. The doctor walking out of the room. His eyes looked sorry, speaking out the words. "She couldn't make it."
Kenma's loud sobs still punched through my chest all the way into my heart.
My head turned to the side and I looked at him. Now he was sleeping. Silent and calm. Was he dreaming? How would he wake up in the morning? What would be the first thing to cross his mind, while entering reality again. A reality without his mother. Would he cry again? Could I make him happy? Just like I promised her?

POV Kenma

My lids were heavy, but I forced myself to open them. The salty tears still burned on my skin, my eyes were like glued together. After I opened them, I faced a wall. The look of the plain white surface made blurry thoughts go through my mind. My head felt empty, but it was pounding, as if it was carrying a few tons.
I turned around and laid down on my back. It had to be midnight, the room was pitch black, yet my eyes got used to the silhouettes, framing the objects in the room. I tried to breathe all the way in, but my chest was locked. The air got stuck at some point, forcing me to breathe it out again. I straightened myself and looked to the bed on my right.
"Kuroo." I whispered. He wasn't moving. I stood up from my bed and walked up to him with slow steps. As I stopped next to him I could see him burying his face into his pillow. With both palms he pushed the ends of the pillow against his ears. He was sandwiching his head in between them.
"Kuroo." I said quietly and laid one hand on his shoulder. By the sudden touch Kuroo jumped and looked up to me, eyes still closed.
"What do you want Bo-" His sentence stopped, as he noticed, that I was standing in front of him.
"Kenma!" He said and sat upright. With a quick swing he got off the bed and stood up, standing close. His hands rested on my shoulders, looking down to me. "What's wrong, is everything alright?" He asked. "Are you okay?"
I wasn't sure, what to answer, because I felt nothing. I felt empty, but still something heavy was laying on my chest.
The moment, I was about to think of her, my brain blurred everything. I didn't have the courage to picture her face once again.
I looked up to him and shook my head slowly.
"Do you need something?" He asked.
My gaze lowered. I wasn't even sure, why I woke him up.
I slowly leaned my head against his chest. Kuroo's breathing stopped for a moment, but then he exhaled. His arms wrapped around me slowly. Crying would feel good right now, but his warmth stopped me from doing anything.
I felt the way my heart calmed, slowing down the speed of the pounding. My arms snaked around his torso, clasping his shirt on his back.
Kuroo tightened his grip around me and pulled me closer.
I closed my eyes. He was the only thing I could hold onto right now.
As her face crossed my mind, I pressed my eyes together, waving the picture away.
I wanted to say some things out loud, but my mouth kept being shut.
Promise that you will not go early, leaving me behind, Kuroo. Promise me.
