POV Kenma
"Yaku I swear to god I can't." Lev whined while squeezing the bottle in his hand. I sat down on the bench and watched the two fighting. Yaku twisted his face while swinging his fist at Lev.
"Stop being such a pussy." He shouted, punching Lev's stomach. "We will practice receives. I don't give a fuck."
My head turned to Kai's direction as he spoke. "Okay guys, we will run a few minutes, then we can leave."
I sighed while folding the towel on my lap. This sucked. Running was the last thing I wanted to do right now.
With much effort I forced myself up from the bench and started jogging after my teammates. Fukunaga caught up on my steps and looked at me with big eyes, the short eyebrows lifted.
"What are you going to do after practice?" He asked, every time his feet hit the ground, the mullet jumped up and down. I shrugged slightly and felt how my chest was already tightening. It was hard to talk and run at the same time.
"I will go... see my mother." I answered with short breaths in between the words. Fukunaga formed his mouth into an O-shape.
"You really go visit her every single day, don't you?"
I nodded and smiled.
"Yes, as long as I still have the chance to."I stopped in front of the shop and looked inside through the glass. A few customers where inside, looking and sniffing at the flowers, the sign from yesterday was also taken down. They opened again. As I reached out for the handle, I stopped in midair. Maybe I should-
-I opened the door, causing the bell to ring above my head again. My eyes wandered all over the shop. Why did I even come here again? As I walked up to the counter, steps clang from my right and I turned my head.
"Tulip boy!" All of his 32 white teeth were showing as he smiled.
My eyes widened and I pressed my lips together, making sure not to allow my mouth to say the words out loud, that crossed my mind.
What did he just call me? My cheeks started burning lightly and I looked to the ground. He stepped behind the counter and supported his arms on it, looking at me.
"What can I get for you?" He asked and I lifted my gaze.
Before I could answer to his question he pulled out a bouquet and placed it on the counter. My eyes squinted while counting the 10 yellow tulips, that he had already wrapped.
I didn't say anything, but this was the exact amount and color of tulips that I wanted to get. The speed of my heart started rising as I comprehended what just happened.
"I really hoped for you to show up again. I didn't have much hope, but I still prepared these for your mother." The boy said and brushed the black hair back, they fell back to position right away. I was trying my best to force out the words, but I had no clue what to say.
"I'm glad you came tulip boy."
With both hands I grabbed the bouquet and looked at it.
"That's really nice of you." I said still keeping my eyes on the flowers. My head lifted and a smile flitted over my lips.
The boy placed his hand on his neck and rubbed his palm on it.
"Of course I can prepare you another one, if you want different flowers."
I shook my head. "No, these are just right. Thanks." I said and handed him the money. With a turn I led my steps towards the door. The smile on my face wouldn't fade.
"What's your name?" The voice shouted after me and I turned back around.
"Kenma." I answered sharp, without asking for his name.
The smirk on his face grew into a big grin.
"Kuroo." He said and waved at me.
My right hand lifted and I smiled back at him, before disappearing through the door.I stepped inside the room and searched for my mother. Suddenly my chest tightened and panic started building up, as I couldn't find her.
I turned around and threw myself on the corridor. My gaze met a nurse and I jogged up to her.
„Excuse me!" I shouted. She turned around and looked at me.
„Can you tell me where my mother is? I can't find her in room 356. Where could she be?" My heart started hammering against my chest.
„Your mother is seeing an emergency operation right now." Her voice said calmly while looking into my eyes. She placed her hand on my shoulder and nodded.
„Everything will be okay. Your mother is fine."
My jaw dropped slowly and my eyes widened. The flowers in my hands started shaking slightly.
„But-" I cut my words. The lady placed her other hand on my shoulder as well and turned me around. With slow steps we both walked into the room.
"Take your time to calm down a bit." She said and I let myself sink into the chair. She kneed down in front of me.
"I am on the corridor. Just call me if you need something." She said and stroke her hands up and down my arms.
I lowered my gaze and nodded. As she walked out of the room I closed my eyes.
This can't be the end. I took the tulips in my arms and tightened my grip around them.
I already knew that there would be an end to everything, sooner or later. We all were born, living the purposes of our life, just to get buried in dirt after all. Everything would end soon. But it never seemed like it. Or I just didn't want to believe it.
I shook my head.
She's fine. She will come out fine.
