Kota had a lot of things tinkering in his mind of the night of his parents' death. His world completely changed that night.Midoriya's and Aunt Mandalay's words to him. One during that night and one in the aftermath but the pair both contrasting and comparing the other.
"That's what Pro Heroes do, they sacrifice themselves every day protecting civilians and their loved ones no matter the cost while upholding the law. Your parents are true heroes which are more rare than any pro hero.".
"I'm sure someday you'll meet someone, and then you'll understand. Someone who will risk their life to save you, Someone who will be".
"My hero", Kota mouths his Aunt's words in a low whisper. His father's cap on his head with the old hero Teddy bear that his mom made him.
"My true hero", Kota says a louder shout as tears slip down his checks remembering. Cursing the fate of true heroes, why must the world take them away!! Why can't they just stay!!
He curses pro heroes of fake heroism. Those who use others for fame and money selfishly. Those who trick others or force others to their will for their own ambitions.
He curses fate for never being nice to the True Heroes. Why?! Why must they suffer so much? Why must fate take them away before they even reach happiness?!
It's the reason why he, though keeping contact with Iris, kept a distance between him and Midoriya.
"Midoriya, what are true heroes?", Kota asked softly staring at Midoriya who was busy working on hero weapons for the Pussy Cats.
"True Heroes? It's little bit more complicated then you think, Kota. True Heroes aren't always going to be pro heroes.", Midoroya answers softly as Kota's eyes widen.
"What?!! But heroes", Kota starts in his confusion as Midoriya shakes his head.
"Pro heroes are simply another form of art made by society to advance itself and adapt to its changes. Becoming a pro hero does not make one a true hero automatically.", Midoriya declared as Kota's eyes widen in shock.
"Then how are my", Kota begins to asks as Midoriya smiles softly as tears crack their way up to his face.
"True Heroes who do great deeds of good and betterment of society without any expectation of a reward or external gain. Even if doing said deed would cause a great deal of harm to themselves. Simply a person doing a right deed because it is the right thing to do. Your parents are true heroes as not only did they save others because it was the right thing but they used their powers to change problems of society that were harming others that are ignored. If you really want to know, they were the first people who ever treated me like a person.", Midoriya says softly with a small smile as Kota's eyes widen.
"What?!", Kota shouts in anger but not at Midoriya at the people who were mistreating him. Just because Midoriya doesn't have a quirk that doesn't mean he should be treated less then any other person!! That's not fair!! Why do people hurt people like that?!!
"Hmm, they are actually what sparked my love with heroes. It gave me hope and the knowing that true heroes do exist in this world. That's why I hope I can change it so no one is looked down based on their quirk or their Quirklessness.", Midoriya answered before leaving Kota to his thoughts. The answer was simple yet confusing. A puzzle of itself to the young child.
That answer was heavily researched. Kota searched vast and wide every single corner for a true hero that either lived in the past couple decades and now. Every single one still breathing.
