The warm summer air hits me. I take a deep breathe, I smell flowers, the ocean, local bakeries, and more. I love summer, swimming, shorts, and parties. I do start to think how different this summer will be without him, I shall not say his name no more, time for me to move on, even thought it's only been a few days. I turn the corner and here am, at the park, I see people walking their dogs, kids laughing, and couples kissing. Then I see a girl to the right waving her hands in the air like a crazy person. I laugh to myself, it's just Nicole. I run to Nicole and give her a big hug.
"I missed you so much Amber! We got some catching up to do!" Nicole grabs my arm and drags me to the sand of the beach.
"Shall we dip our toes in the water?" I smile and ask. Nicole shakes her head with the biggest smile. we both race towards the sea, and of course Nicole wins, I hate running.
"So how has life been?" Nicole asked.
"Hate it."
"What's wrong? You could've texted me anytime you were having trouble!" Nicole shouts.
"Well me and Dustin broke up. he said he didn't love me no more. It killed me, he said he needs his space, whatever that means." I roll my eyes. Nicole gasps,
"What a fuck face!"
I look at her and bust out in laughter, did she really just say that. Nicole looks puzzled.
"Why are you laughing I'm serious!"
Nicole breaks into laughter as well. We both sound like dying whales, and people are beginning to stare at us. Nicole stops and says,
"How about we go to a party tonight? Take your minds off things." I shake my head in excitement.
"Let's go to my house to get ready." I said. We both get on our feet, then Nicole points out this guy. Oh lord, he was muscular, blonde hair, and surprisingly pale!
" Nicole! He is so damn hot!" My mouth drops. Nicole hurries and runs over to him, then I figured out what she was doing. "Nicole! Stop! Please if you love me!" I yell in the distance.
"Hello, I'm Amber an my friends thinks your a totally hunk!"
"Is that so?" He chuckles "Well I'm Tate, and she's pretty cute herself." He smiles. "Got pin and paper?"
"Let me check." Nicole scurries around in her pockets until she finds and old wrapper and a pin. "yes, what would I be writing down?"
"My number" Tate winks "573-123-4567, tell Amber to text me." As he winks and walks away, Nicole runs and nearly knocks me over.
"Girl! I got his number! And it's for you, he said your pretty cute yourself, and his name is Tate!" Nicole says as she starts jumping up and down. I start to squeal, I grab the number and dial it in my phone.
Hey Tate, it's Amber :)
Now I wait for him to respond. My checks burn red.
"Amber we have to go get ready like now!" Nicole grabs my hand and we race to my house. We finally make it to my door step all out of breathe and I'm finally able to say
"Nicole how can I thank you! You are the best!"
"You don't have to! I'm your bestfriend!" She smiles. I unlock my door and we both pile in. First thing I do Is turn some music on.
"This is my jam!" Nicole yells.
*buzz*
"It's Tate!" I tell back.
Hey pretty girl
I squeal, and Nicole is reading over my shoulder.
"get'em girl!" She yells.
*buzz*
Are you busy tonight?
No why? - N
I'm going to a party, wonder if you wanted to go?
Where's it at -n
My house!
"Amber! Where's the party going to be at?
"Oh! I forgot to mention! Tate's house!"
I squeal and text him back.
I'll be coming!
See you there pretty girl.
Is this really happening? I'm not gonna question it! He's fine and he thinks I'm cute! This will be a night to remember.
