Draco watched in horror as Harry stepped out onto the arena. He had taken a space between Blaise and Longbottom, so he could worry without any suspicion. Harry had already told him that Longbottom knew about their relationship and they had talked about it during their turtoring sessions. Draco was surprised at how understanding he was and treated Longbottom like a friend. Not in public, of course.
''Draco? Are you okay?'' Blaise asked, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder.
''Do I look okay?'' Draco replied a little too harshly, causing Blaise to take a step back.
''It's okay. I saw Harry with Ron and Hermione outside of the arena and he seemed fine. No need to worry, Malfoy,'' Longbottom said.
''Fine? He's going to fight a bloody dragon! What do you mean fine?"
Longbottom sighed.
''Just watch. Harry has been through worse, you know.''
Draco watched Harry very closely. He climbed a giant rock and pulled his wand out. Harry didn't look too confident. Draco wanted to shout words of encouragment and his head hurt knowing he couldn't.
''Accio Firebolt!'' Harry screamed.
Nothing happened. The dragon lashed its tail at Harry, knocking him to the side. Draco was in a pool of sweat.
Suddenly, as Harry climbed onto another rock, his eyes locked with Draco's. Those beautiful green eyes that he could drown in from a mile away. Draco gave him an encouraging smile.
Harry smiled back as he reached the top of the rock. The dragon roared ferociously and swang its tail at Harry again, but this time, he was ready and ducked just before he was going to get hit.
Still locked in Draco's gaze, Harry pulled his wand out and said the spell again, this time louder and with more confidence.
''ACCIO FIREBOLT!''
Harry's broom flew into his hands almost instantly. Draco watched as he hopped onto it and began flying out of the dragon's reach. The Hungarian Horntail breathed fire and Harry dodged it by an inch. He flew in circles for a while but, since that didn't do anything, tried to hide. The dragon blew fire and the rock he was hiding behind turned into ashes.
Harry flew up into the air as the dragon followed. Draco watched until his boyfriend was hidden behind the clouds before turning to Blaise.
''Do you think he's doing well?''
''Of course, mate. For a beginner, he's doing really well.'' Blaise patted his back.
Suddenly, the chain that was holding the Hungarian Horntail's foot snapped and it flew in the direction Harry went. The dragon was soon hidden behind the clouds.
Draco was now at the point of tears and he tried his best to not let them flow down his cheeks. He failed as a tear escaped his left eye. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to face Longbottom.
''It'll be okay, Malfoy.'' He patted his shoulder.
Draco wiped his tear away with his sleeve and scanned everywhere for Harry. He suddenly spotted him outside the arena and on one of the castle's towers, hanging by his hands. The dragon was perched on another tower and was slowly making its way towards him. Harry tried to reach for his Firebolt that was stuck on a ledge. He succeded and quickly flew away from the dragon's grasp. It blew fire and Draco watched in shock and terror as it burned the end of Harry's broom, causing him to wobble uncontrollably. He was speeding for the bridge and almost past through one of its arches when the dragon grapsed him by the tail of his broom. Harry wiggled away and crashed into the bridge. He fell, screaming at the top of his lungs as the dragon fell beside him.
