Draco hastily listened to Binns in History of Magic. He was giving a lecture about some sort of wizard who was killed mysteriously by some muggle animal and Draco thought that it was extremely boring. Who would ever listen to Binns anyway? He didn't even notice if someone was late or if two friends were talking during class.

When class was over, Draco was packing his things away but before anyone could leave, McGonagall entered the classroom.

''Everyone will please follow me. Your next class is cancelled,'' she explained.

Everyone hooted when she mentioned that the class was cancelled.

Draco followed the students and McGonagall to the Great Hall. The benches were spaced out and the girls were sitting on one side and boys on the other. Draco sat next to Blaise, leaving his bag on the ground in front of him.

''What's going on?'' Draco asked curiously.

''Haven't got a clue. Also, did you reply to your dad's letter?'' Blaise asked the question in a hushed voice.

''No, not yet. I don't think I ever will,'' Draco whispered back before McGonagall cleared her throat.

''Now, students, as you know the champions have finished the first task successfully. And according to the traditions of the Triwizard Tournament, the Yule Ball will be organized for all students to have fun and dress nicely. Now, for anyone who doesn't know what the Yule Ball is, it is, what I like to call it, a dance. It will take place here in the Great Hall on Christmas Eve.''

Draco groaned quietly. If the ball was on Christmas Eve, then that meant the next day he would be at Malfoy Manor.

All around him, he heard murmurs when McGonagall said the word dance. He didn't know what the fuss was all about. In his opinion, he was actually a really good dancer.

''Now, please listen to what I am about to say,'' McGonagall continued as the murmurs died down, ''the Yule Ball is a celebration, yes, but it is also to honour the champions in participating the Triwizard Tournament. Thus why I don't want any of you acting like a loud, bumbling band of baboons.''

Draco heard the Weasley twins making fun of what McGonagall had just said in the back.

''When are we not?'' he heard Weasley mutter to Harry.

''Perhaps you would be so kind as to be the first one up to show how it's done to your classmates, Mr Weasley,'' McGonagall said.

Weasley sheepishly stood up and walked over to her.

''Now put your hand on my waist.''

''You want me to put my hand where?'' Weasley exclaimed softly.

''On my waist.''

Weasley shyly put his hand on McGonagall's waist whilst the other one hooked with her hand. They began to dance around the Great Hall.

''Now choose a partner and dance!'' McGonagall called whilst she was twirled around by Weasley.

Everyone got up to choose a partner. Draco looked for someone to dance with and his eyes suddenly watched as Theo and Pansy dance together. He felt happy for his friend and relieved that Pansy wasn't dancing with him instead.

He sat back down and sighed as a young girl sat next to him.

''You alright?'' she asked.

''Yes,'' he replied awkwardly. Nobody had ever come to talk nicely to him other than his fellow Slytherins. He looked at her tie and saw that she was in Ravenclaw.
