Carley knew that California wasn't super far from Missouri, but she had to save up enough money to pack up everything and leave for good. January 2nd, Carley had an extremely graphic deam about Brennen. When she woke up, she knew what she needed to do. She finally had just enough money saved up to pack her car, drive across states, and get a small place in California to stay at.
Carley's P.O.V
"That dream was really graphic... I need to call Abby and tell her everything and see what she thinks of it." I thought to myself. I picked up the phone and went out onto the porch. "Hey Abby? I need to tell you something really important."
"Hit me with your best shot, Carr."
"I had another dream about Brennen. I think it's a sign. I think it's time. You are still in this with me, right?"
"Carley, If I wasn't in this with you, I wouldn't be on the phone listening to you blab about pretty boy."
"You are right. Be ready to go in an hour. I am going to do what I gotta do with Jake. After that, I'll be there to pick you up."
"Road trip beeeeeeeetchhhh" Abby always seemed to have a good attitude when it came to the thought of leaving Jake. She never had a big liking for the kid.
"Hell yeah.. One way road trip to Cali-for-ni-a! See you soon girl, wish me luck."
"Kick him in the nuts for me, mkay? hah, bye girl. see you soon."When I walked in, Jake was no where to be found. He left a note on the counter that read, "I'm going to Mason's. Don't wait up. Be home later, have dinner made." That was the last straw. Instead of calling him and blowing up, I gave him a taste of his own medicine. I left a note that read, "You know what Jake? I am done being your little bitch. Make yourself your own damn dinner. I'm done. I hope Mason can deal with all your pitty baby shit when you realize I'm gone. Don't call. I am turning my phone off as soon as I leave. P.S. Don't wait up.
I texted Abby and told her I would be there right after she stopped at AT&T. "I feel like 500 pounds had been lifted off my sholders!" I shouted as I pulled out of the driveway. When I got to AT&T, I explained my whole deal and instead of shutting my phone off, losing all my social media contact with Brennen, the guy cut me some slack and just changed my number for me. That was pretty awesome. I pulled into Abby's parents dive and gave a few honks on my horn to let her know I was here. I got out of the car and opened the trunk to see half of the car full of all my important belongings layed all over the trunk floors and all over the back seats that had been folded down for more room. Abby came running out and gave me a hug and yelled, "You don't need him girl. Finally you had guts to kick his ass to the curb! I taught you well!" "You are totally right. Now get your shit in my car, lady!" Abby and I loaded her stuff into the other side of my trunk and as we were putting stuff in there, I found a old picture pin board. All the memories from when we were younger flashed into my mind and I almost teared up. Abby and I have been best friends since the end of our 6th grade year. We were joined at the hip until the summer of sophomore year. I got too involved with Jake and that pushed her away and I had dropped her from the face of the earth. I will never go back down that road. Ever. "Chicks before DICKS!" I heard her yell over me thoughts. I glanced at her and told her I was just thinking the same thing. We laughed and hugged it out and finished piling all her stuff in my car.
"Well, here we go, Abbs."
"Wait! before you pull out, give me your phone!"
"Why?.."
"Because you haven't fully broke from Jakes chans until you unhide all your social media apps!" I had all my apps that Jake wouldn't let me have locked so when he would read over my sholder, he wouldn't blow up. As she unhid my apps, I heard the ringer going crazy. I realized it was my twitter ring and I looked over. "HOLY SHIT ABBY!!!!!! ABBY BRENNEN FOLLOWED ME ON TWITTER!!!" She took my phone before I passed out. Sure enough, it was Brennen Cristopher Taylor who had just followed my twiiter account. I started to cry with joy. Once I calmed down, we head out. It was nice to know we were finally moving on. Literally.
