The Deal

I somehow managed to make it through class and after school I skipped practice and went to the address on the note. It was a large house in a very quiet area and I knocked on the door loudly. A man wearing a blue and white jumpsuit answered the door; he had short black hair and scars on his face. "Yeah what do you want?" he asked me rudely.

"Hello I’m shiki Beirth Miss. Mazzone told me to come here"

"So you’re the Girl that Stein saved well come on in" He started walking into the house. I followed him into the house and closed the door behind me. He lead me into the living room where sat on the couch next to his wife. Stein and another man stood behind the couch looking grim faced.

"So you saw stein turn from a shark into a human so that he could save your human life, is that correct"

"Yes that is correct"

"Well we have a rule that says if one of us is discovered then the merfolk or the human must die, so I think you should have to give your life instead of Stein" He said with a glint in his eye.

"If that’s what must be done then so be it but is there anything else that can be done" I asked without hesitation.

"You could marry stein and then become a part of a family so neither of you have to die" Says Mazzone with a grin. Fujishiro blushed before saying

"Would you like to become my bride or die" he said bluntly.

“I think we should try to date first then consider marriage latter if that’s ok with you, that is" I say while looking away blushing.

"That sounds great" He says relaxing and smiling.

"Well if you’ll excuse me I have to be getting home" I Turn around and quickly left the house. I may seem crazy on how quickly I accepted the deal but I had plan in mind that would prevent me from marrying him. The first part was that Alucard would probably scare him away when he met him and the next part was that I would make it him fall for another girl and forget all about me. It would be what’s best for him after all who wants to marry a monster like me. I could of just told them to kill me there and then and be done with it but the look on Fujishiro face told me that he would be upset to see me die their and then so I held back and accepted the other deal. I only hoped that Fujishiro would not come to regret saving my life that fateful day. I sighed as I reached my house and walked inside where I froze. I griped my shirt tightly as my chest started to burn painfully and I coughed up blood, crap I was having another attack and my medicine was far away. I fell to me knees from the pain, trying to stay conscious as Fujishiro ran into the house. I was so lost in thought that I hadn’t noticed him following me home as I walked back home.

"Shiki what’s wrong what can I do to help" he asked panicky.

"My medicine" I pointed to a white bag on the counter in the kitchen.

He ran and grabbed it off the counter before handing it to me quickly. I took out a needle prefilled and injected it into my arm before passing out. When next I awoke I was in a hospital bed wearing a patient gown and hooked up to some machines. I slowly sat up as the doctor came into the room, Mr. Silits he was a middle age man with short slick black hair and pale white skin. He’s been my doctor for as long as I can remember and one of the few people I can trust. He was looking through some charts before looking up. "Oh your finally awake you seem to have gave your companion quite a scare, he’s pacing the waiting room, waiting for you to wake up, you know"

"It’s his fault for following me and then bringing me here" I say as I stood up and changed back into my normal clothes that were next to the bed.

"So cruel as ever, just be glad I was here today to see you" he said as he lit a cigarette, "otherwise we would of had issues if another doctor ran tests on you, then we would be in serious trouble" he said while opening the window.
