A Light in the Dark - Chapter 5 - Raymond and Sapphire
MYSTERY POV:
Me and my men burst into the poor, old-looking two story house that is placed right on the edge of the forest-the forest that is near the entrance to our world.
I instantly see the human enemy standing right at the bottom of the stairs, looking as if he was planning to escape up the stairs. A thin, dark red line of blood ran down his left arm, and he was looking right at me, and seeing my calm, emotionless mask, he flinches.
Right when the pathetic excuse for a human was going to-is that a human?
It is.
I turn to the Captain of Warrior Faes and state bluntly, "I thought you said no one was living with . . . him."
My captain quickly answers, "Your highness, there were no reports of anyone else living here except the human man. He was probably hiding her as a secret from the world."
I turn my gaze to look at the poor terrified looking human girl--who looks only about seventeen--and she is being gripped tightly by him. There are bruises all over her body--well, from every visible spot of skin we can see from her torn clothing--and there were scars running all around them. In a few places--where it looks even worse--there were ripped pieces of clothing that were poorly wrapped around the wounds.
But that didn't matter. What really made me surprised were her eyes--a soft, sapphire blue. I never knew blue could look so gentle and calm--but what I saw reflected in those eyes were what broke my heart--those eyes. . . reflect sadness, hopelessness, and misery. Those eyes look like they've never seen the world--or anything for that matter. .
And that pained me.
Even so, through all the torture I can tell that she has endured, I can see that she still has a tiny spark in her--a spark that refuses to be blown out.
I look back to the man, and I suddenly see a horrifying resemblance between the man and the girl--a resemblance so horrifying that made me pity her.
"Is. . .this. . . your daughter?" I address the disgusting human, trying to control the anger in me that was threatening to rise up.
Seeing no answer I bark out, "Well?"
"Y-yes!" the stupid human replies.
I can't even look at the human, so I turn my gaze back to the poor angel next to him, and I can feel my eyes soften.
This girl doesn't deserve to be treated like this. I'll be sure she sees the whole world. . . I vow. The thought just makes me smile a little.
Then I turn back to my men. "Capture him, but don't hurt the girl," I order.
Three of my men jump forward, and with little difficulty, they paralyze him. Seeing the shock on the human's face makes me want to laugh evilly--it's karma--for everything he has done to the angel a few feet away from him, and for everyone else he treated horribly.
I see the beautiful angel stagger backwards, and the look on her face--pure fright--makes me sad. Not wanting her to be scared of us, I say softly, "Wait!"
THE GIRL'S POV:
I turn back, and quickly shut my eyes together tightly and bring my arms up to wrap around my head protectively, my back bending slightly into a defensive position, ready for the impact.
When none came, I peek open one eyelid to look at the beautiful boy wings. He was looking back at me, his eyes sad-but why would they be sad?
Then he opens his mouth and says, "I'm not going to hurt you--I would never do that. . ."
