"TOMMY HELP," Tubbo yelped, gulping for the surface, and flailing his arms, Tommy had shoved him into the crystal clear lake, and was now looking smug. He was sat on the floating paddle board, which Tubbo was trying so desperately to cling onto, grasping at the grooves in the board, laughing at the slightly older brunettes struggles.
"TOMMY," Tubbo groaned, exasperated as he was taunted by the taller of the two, but laughing internally at their antics, happy to finally be kids again, and have the freedom to simply just have fun, with no implications or risks, apart from maybe drowning, particularly as tommy was there. Tubbo tugged at Tommy's foot, an effort to imbalance him, but all he succeeded in doing was getting thrown of paddle board, losing the only grip he had.Tommy got tired of taunting Tubbo eventually, and bought the board over to Tubbo, pulling him onto the not so stable board, and grinning, small trickles of salt water running down his face, shining in the afternoon sun.
"Sorry mate, but that was so worth it" Tommy smiled, still laughing at Tubbo and how long it had taken until he had finally been nice enough to pull Tubbo on.God I'm so nice, aren't I chat? Tommy grinned, smiling to his estranged audience he always imagined in his head. They talked to him a lot, a constant murmur of sound in his head. They told him to do stupid stuff sometimes, most of time.
Maybe they reflected his inner personality. As they sat on a small beach, made of shingle and sand, tommy handed Tubbo the bandages for his soulmate mark that he'd bought, from earlier. Tubbo smiled, surprised at the nice act by tommy, never mind the thoughtfulness it must've taken, then glanced over,
"You got a plan for what to do next, Tommy?" Asked Tubbo, raising an eyebrow, and glancing sideways at the wet haired blonde, who was slightly preoccupied wrapping his hand in a similar slate grey bandage. He paused, a look of surprise ghosting over his face for a second, barely perceptible.
"Oh I thought that- that you had a plan?" Tommy smiled, looking up sheepishly, "you think I could ever come up with a decent plan..." he chuckled, surprised that Tubbo, of all people, believed in him enough to have come up with somewhat of a decent plan. Water slowly ran of his face, and dropped to the floor, shining in the rays of sunlight that danced off it, rainbows appearing as mirages against the skyline.
"Tommy, you know that I trust you with my life, why wouldn't I trust you to make a plan?" Tubbo said, masking his exasperation with a smile and slight laugh, before he and tommy both descended into fits of giggles at quite literally nothing.Funny that Tubbo trusts me, when I don't even trust myself...
The two laughed until their sides hurt, tommy crying with laughter.
The sunny, warm afternoon had been one filled with jokes, laughs, and light-hearted pokes at each other's confidence, the two smiling away the political drama going on back home, two teenagers reliving their robbed years of youth, however the minute the two of them entered the house, a cold weight settled on Tommy's shoulders. A sense of 'somethings wrong and I'm about to find out what exactly it is'.
A bone deep dread that touched his soul like the touch of the reaper, and skittered between his ribs like an electric shock.A dread that, in Tommy's case, would be...very well placed.
"TOMMY GET THE FUCK UP HERE" a voice, Wilbur from the sounds of it, shouted from upstairs.
Tommy paused, he glanced with a slight frown at Tubbo,
"Good luck-" Tubbo said, a slight hint of concern in his face. Tommy smiled, and immediately hurried up the creaking and worn wooden stairs."So, Tommy, care to explain where you were this afternoon..." Wilbur inquired, an expecting look in his soft brown eyes, "you didn't happen to forget about the meeting now, did you?"
Shit.
Tommy had, in complete and all honesty, forgotten about the meeting that afternoon, though he would never admit he was at fault, and it was an important one, just to top it all off. Tommy sighed, he'd dug his grave, now it was time to lie in it, to quote the wise man Phil, it seemed.
He turned to look Wilbur in the eyes, shuffling his feet slightly, before spitting out his anger tinged words,
"Wilbur, I fucked up. I admit it, I completely forgot, but-" Wilbur tried to shush him, "no, don't try and shut me up, I messed up, but that doesn't mean you can come and be angry at me. I made a mistake. I'm human, I still have things I need to do, I still have people I need to spend time with, and you over working isn't going to stop me," tommy paused, taking in a breath, "and y'know whay Wilbur....you need to take a break. Your obsessing over something that isn't going to happen sooner just because you want it to-" tommy stumbled over his words slightly, losing his train of thought, and spluttering out a string of unintelligible lettering.Wilburs face portrayed his emotions exactly. He was feeling not only taken aback, but also betrayed, with a tinge of anger.
He honestly didn't know what to say.Tommy had voiced the concerns that had been playing solitaire in his head, and now Wilbur...he understood it now. He understood so much that before he could hardly comprehend, so much that he now understood like the dawn of day.
He knew what to do.
He knew why."Tommy, do you know where Niki and Fundy would be?"
A/n : once again, sorry for the slightly shorter chapter! As much as I know exactly where I want the story to end up, it's the filling in the gaps as such that's kinda difficult lmao
Also yes hi it was a slight vent chapter so sorry if it came off weird haha *sweats slightly*>> 1023 words
